Eventually, Layla flopped onto her bed with a dramatic sigh. "This place is amazing, isn't it?" she said, staring up at the ceiling. "So much to learn, so many people to meet… It's like a dream come true."
Adeline nodded thoughtfully, leaning against the bedframe. "It is," she said, though her tone was more measured.
Layla tilted her head up to look at Adeline but soon realised she could not see through the wood. "You seem like you have a lot on your mind," she said, her voice softer than before.
Adeline blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in tone. "Maybe," she admitted.
"Well, don't worry too much," Layla said with a grin. "Whatever it is, I am sure you'll figure it out. You seem like the kind of person who can handle anything."
Adeline did not know how to respond to that, so she simply smiled. Layla truly saw the best in people.
