Chapter 30 - Denial

Chapter Thirty:

Percy's POV

I wasn't sure if it was because I leaned toward her, but her displeased expression softened into a slightly flustered one. Unimpressed, I leaned back. Ladies who got affected by my incredible looks usually killed my excitement. Don't deny it, but don't accept it either. I crossed my legs.

"So, you can't speak?" I asked.

"No, I'm sorry... you speak a lot like someone I met today, and I didn't really like them... I guess that's how birds of a feather speak," she said, meeting my eyes.

Birds of a feather? She had some guts. Luke took a step toward her, but the Beta stepped forward and pulled her back. I held Luke back.

"So, you can speak. Use that grumpy voice to call your Alpha for me in two minutes. Or I'll leave, and your problems will stay your problems."

The Beta pushed her toward the exit, and she hurried out toward the main pack. I rested my head on the couch, and Luke replaced himself beside me.
