"Well, go on," Sakura told Karin encouragingly, holding out a piece of meat wrapped in a large leaf, which was emitting a tantalizing aroma. "Help yourself— you look like you're about to keel over from hunger…"
Karin could still scarcely believe what had just happened to her.
This incredibly busty pink-haired girl had just dropped out of nowhere to her rescue, turned into barbecued meat the gigantic bear that had been terrorizing her and her team since the very first moment they had set foot in the forest, and then generously offered her a cut of the meat.
"T-thank you, o… o-onee-sama," Karin said shyly, accepting the sizzling meat gratefully.
It was a good thing that Karin hadn't awakened her Mind's Eye of the Kagura ability yet, otherwise she would have seen through Sakura's motive of offering her free food: fattening the pig for the slaughter!
Sakura was hoping that Karin would be a little bit bigger in the upstairs department the next time they met, which would hopefully be as enemies. Karin was flatter than a pancake at this point, and Sakura wouldn't be getting any chakra out of Karin unless she had breasts to be stolen.
But Karin was more than flat, she was as thin as a rake, from head to toe.
The reason why Karin looked so malnourished was because of her status in the Hidden Grass village, which was basically that of a health potion. Or perhaps more accurately, that of a Bloodborne Blood Vial, since Karin was a machine that turned food into healing blood.
The Hidden Grass had taken Karin and her mother in as refugees, and the shinobi of their new village really hadn't hesitated to suck out every last drop of value from the mother and daughter pair, which was truly short-sighted of them. Karin's mother had already moved on to the Pure Land, and at this point, Karin's Uzumaki vitality was basically the only thing still keeping her alive.
"You know," Sakura continued, thinking of Karin's obsession with Sasuke as she spoke, "they say boys like a girl with some meat on her bones. There's this super handsome guy on my team, Sasuke, and he's toootally into larger girls… I think you two would make a great couple. Ooh, I can already picture your children's faces!"
'Sarada does look suspiciously like Karin, doesn't she?' said Inner Sakura suspiciously. 'By the way, was it really necessary to slander Sasuke like that?'
Sakura ignored her inner voice and smiled at Karin, offering her another piece of meat wrapped in leaves.
"I don't really care about that sort of thing, onee-sama," Karin said, sneaking a sidelong glance at Sakura and blushing. "As long— As long as I've got (you)…!"
Unable to finish her sentence out loud, Karin hugged herself and closed her eyes, squealing excitedly as she pictured herself swooning in the arms of her new, beloved onee-sama… her beautiful pink-haired saviour.
"Hold on," Sakura suddenly interjected. "How old are you?
"14," Karin responded shyly.
"Then, I'm the one who should be calling you onee-sama," Sakura pointed out cheerfully. "I'm a year younger than you."
Karin buried her face into her hands in embarrassment, as she reversed the mental image that she had previously formed of their imaginary love relationship together. She was now the tachi, the dominant one, while the busty pink-haired girl was now the neko, or the submissive one…
"Kyaah!" Karin squealed, her cheeks turning as red as her hair.
No, how dare she think of her onee-sama in such a fashion… she wasn't worthy of her onee-sama's grace!
"Er— right, then…" said Sakura awkwardly, desperately searching for a way to change the subject, since the current topic was making Karin act strangely. "So, er… what happened to the rest of your team, by the way?"
A cold look of disgust appeared on Karin's face as she thought of those worthless leeches. But she quickly brightened up, as she appeared to have thought of something. She then began rummaging around the ravaged campsite, searching the bags that the giant bear had scattered everywhere, until she finally found what she had been looking for.
"The bear scared them off," said Karin in a huff, as she returned to Sakura's side, a scroll in hand. "You should have our earth scroll, onee-sama. Those two idiots don't deserve to pass, and I really couldn't care less about these stupid exams!"
The only reason why Karin was even here to begin with was to serve as a personal blood bank for Shigeri, the son of an important Jōnin in the Hidden Grass village. Her only goal was to help him pass the exam, not pass the exam herself…
Noticing Sakura's gaze wandering down her body, Karin crossed her arms behind her, in a fruitless bid to hide the bite marks from her beloved onee-sama.
"Did they never teach you in nursery school not to bite each other, in the Hidden Grass?" Sakura asked, frowning deeply as she inspected the spots where Karin's teammates had sunk their teeth into her skin.
"Nursery… school?" Karin asked curiously. "What's that?"
Sakura sighed, and she pulled out a heaven scroll from her cleavage. Upon seeing the scroll, Karin proffered her earth scroll for Sakura to take, but Sakura shook her head.
"Keep it," she said. "And here, you can have this heaven scroll, too; I've got one extra, so it's only collecting dust in my pouch."
"B-but why?" Karin stammered. "You saved me, gave me food, and now you're giving me your scroll? Onee-sama, you should keep this just in case. Won't your teammates get mad at you…?"
"I want you to have it, and I won't take no for an answer," said Sakura stubbornly. "You've had it hard in life so far, right?"
Karin nodded meekly.
"Well, this is your chance to make things better for yourself," said Sakura, as she smiled at the other girl. "The others won't treat you as badly if you become a Chūnin, right? Besides, I want your entire team to move on to the next phase of the exam, if only so I'll get the chance to beat up those who've done this to you. Okay?"
"But…"
Sakura held up her right arm and put a hand on her non-existent biceps.
"I'm pretty strong, you know," she said, winking at Karin. "You don't have to worry about me not passing this exam."
"ONEE-SAMA!" Karin cried out, tears streaming down her face.
Karin fell into Sakura's arms, crying uncontrollably, and Sakura patted her on the back comfortingly. This soft feeling of warmth and closeness… Karin hadn't felt something like this since her mother's death.
'I'll make sure that our team moves on to the next stage,' Karin thought to herself. 'If it's the last thing I do…'
After a few teary minutes, Sakura gently pushed Karin away from her, since it was time for her to leave. At this point, Sakura had completely forgotten about her initial goal of convincing Karin to put on some weight, just so that she'd have some breasts to steal…
"Wait, onee-sama," Karin sniffled. "I never caught your name…"
"You'll know my name when you make it to the next round," said Sakura with a crafty smile. "So, let's make a pinky swear that we'll both make it, okay? You'll have to swallow a thousand needles if you break our promise~"
Sakura and Karin linked their little fingers and shook on it, before finally letting go of each other's hands. Sakura then placed her hands together, making the tiger seal and drawing chakra down to her legs and feet…
"Body Flicker Jutsu!"
…and Sakura disappeared in a poof of white smoke, leaving Karin staring in wonder at the spot where she'd been previously standing. For a while, she just stood there, staring absentmindedly into empty space with her little finger still sticking out.
"I've found you, onee-sama," Karin whispered. "Your chakra… What a beautiful rainbow of colours…"
At that moment, Karin's urge to see her onee-sama one last time had overpowered her, and she had awakened her Uzumaki bloodline's exclusive sensory Jutsu: the Mind's Eye of the Kagura.
"And I've found you too, you worthless filth," Karin spat upon finding her teammates' chakra signatures. "Well, time to round you up and pass this exam… I promised onee-sama, after all."
