Chapter 3 - A new World a new Name

"I don't want to waste too much time on a name. Looking at my character, I think something representative of what I want to achieve would be nice—a constant reminder, so to say... I want to shine a light on darkness and help people... Well, let's go with Lightcast. That seems cool enough. I can also imagine that being the name of some household or something—should be good.

Now that I think about it, I start to like it more and more."

As Lightcast settled on a name, he kept walking down the street. The street itself was made of rounded cobblestones that were big and flat enough not to be uncomfortable when walked on barefoot, with slight moss in their cracks. There seemed to be a slight indent where carriages would be pulled through on both sides.

The buildings, which had a very Middle Ages-like style to them, used seamless stone instead of any wood or bricks, and they were connected almost throughout, making one wonder how they were even built in the first place. What gave a feel of familiarity were the tile roofs on roughly two-thirds of the buildings. The last third had more flat and usable types of roofs. While the streets themselves seemed quite straight and easy to navigate, many small alleyways and crossing streets heightened the complexity enough to get lost when being there for the first time.

As the city bathed in the golden hue of the sun, which seemed to be stuck in this position longer than it should be, Lightcast, who had materialized in a higher region of the city, enabling a better view over it, enjoyed the interesting sights—a symphony of buildings and nature combining in a satisfying way. This was achieved through the many waterways found everywhere and the trees and plants that were occasionally integrated into buildings, though this seemed more rare. In Lightcast's opinion, the main reason these odd design choices made sense and worked harmoniously was because of the Energizing star particles—somehow, they seemed to improve even the city itself.

Quite a few minutes passed when Lightcast, who was looking at a waterway's reflection of the sunset's light while contemplating his next course of action, sensed that the people in front of him had paused and started to discuss something. This group was different from the one earlier, as the other group had already left but was replaced by this three-person group—a guy and two women. As Lightcast looked over, they glanced at him. The two women tried to talk the guy out of something, but since Lightcast looked at them, the guy said a final word before approaching.

"He seems like a nice guy. He probably realized something about me was off. Let's hear him out without giving away too much information," Lightcast thought as the guy was already in front of him and started talking:

"Hey, my name is Marc. Nice to meet you. Listen, I know this is out of the blue, but could it be that you just manifested?"

Lightcast was slightly surprised by his statement but didn't answer. Instead, he just looked at Marc. So Marc continued:

"Don't worry, I'm not here to cause trouble. It's okay if you don't trust me, but please listen to me for a minute."

"Just tell me what you think you have to tell me," Lightcast said in a nonchalant manner, trying not to expose that he had no idea about anything at the moment.

"Great, thank you for listening. So, essentially, this world is a bit weird. This city itself is a bit weird as well—essentially, this is one of many different beginner cities, but that's not all they are. They are the beginning for some people while for others... well..."

Marc trailed off, leaving Lightcast intrigued yet wary of what he was about to reveal.
