Chapter 2 - Chapter 2; Better luck next time

"WHAT?!?! THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!!!"

"You lost fair and square"

Jimmy sat back down in his seat. He was blank faced while staring me down. Jimmy breathed in a large breath and... LAUGHED!!!

He was swinging his legs, his eyes were tearing up. Everyone in the room could hear him struggling for air. Everyone else was laughing along with him. My blood was boiling.

Jimmy corrected himself and swung his arms over the table and scooped up all the chips. He put them into rows of tens, fifties, and hundreds, just like I did.

He then proceeded to look me dead in the eye as he lifted one of my chips.

He puckered his lips and gave it a slobbery kiss that lasted seconds.

Now I'm really pissed.

First he looks at me as he stacks my chips and now he's giving it a French kiss? In that moment I wanted to slam that chip so far down his throat that he would think twice before doing something like that again!

I still can't believe I lost. I had a straight and he one ups me with a flush! I thought I counted the cards correctly. A ten of hearts, a ten of spades, a three of hearts, a Jack of hearts and a King of clubs. I should have won with a straight with he a pair of tens from the table cards. Instead of the nine of clovers and four of hearts I thought he had, he somehow got a four of hearts and an ace of hearts. What was my mistake when I was counting the cards? And why did I only get one of the two right?

"Tonight was fun boys," Exclaimed Jimmy.

Jimmy looked up from the chips and at the clock on the wall. It was three in the morning.

"Jeez it's late, why didn't you guys stop this sooner?" Jimmy remarked.

"Boss, we've been going for hours asking you to end the night, but you didn't want to stop until you won a round." Bobby explained.

"Oopsie," Jimmy replied.

Everyone got up from their seats to stretch. I was still very salty about the whole situation and stayed seated. I still can't believe he won!

"This is bullshit," I whispered from under my breath.

"Did you say something Carson?" Jimmy questioned while standing tall in front of me, his smile still ear to ear. I brush everything off for now, smiling and laughing along with him.

"It's nothing, I just thought I was going to win, that's all."

Everyone started packing up. Hunter packed up the chips. Jimmy put the cards back in the box. I cleaned up the snacks off of the floor and table. Adam rearranged the chairs. And Colin grabbed his music disk from the gramophone and stashed it in his bag.

After everyone was done cleaning, people started leaving.

The first out of the door was Bobby and Hunter. Bobby drinks the most out of everyone, noted by his beer belly, and Hunter drinks less than everyone. So he takes it upon himself to drive Bobby back home.

Colin, Samuel and Adam left a couple of minutes after them, after saying their goodbyes.

All who's left in the house now is me and Jimmy.

Jimmy grabs his case of chips and case of cards that he brought for tonight's game. I watched him reach for the door, turn the knob and exit through.

Before the door closed, Jimmy stuck his head back in.

I went to the conclusion that he was going to rub his win in my face some more.

I gritted my teeth with an eerie smile and waited for the words,"I win" or "better luck next time" or anything along those lines to come out of his mouth.

Jimmy took a breath and spoke.

"If your going to cheat, make sure you know if there are any others willing to trump you with a better card up their sleeve."

Jimmy sticks an arm out and his head out of sight behind the door.

In his hand there is a card. It was an ace of hearts.

"Oh you a-"

"Better luck next time," echoes Jimmy's voice from the hall.
