As Noah basked in the warmth of the sun while nestled in his mother's embrace, the peaceful atmosphere was abruptly interrupted by the arrival of a man.
"Excuse me, my lady," a servant's voice cut through the serenity, jarring Noah from his drowsiness. He blinked, curiously observing the newcomer.
Lilith's gentle smile instantly vanished, replaced by a cold and distant expression. The sudden shift in her demeanor sent a chill through Noah, making him shudder as he sensed the stark contrast in his mother's aura.
Lilith frowned slightly, her eyes narrowing at the elderly servant. "You've startled my baby!" she said sharply, her tone cold and unwelcoming. "Do you have something important to say, or are you just here to disturb us? If not, leave at once!" Her voice, which had been so sweet moments before, now carried a weight of authority.
The servant sighed softly, as though used to such behavior, and bowed respectfully before producing a letter from his pocket. "My lady, this is a letter from—" he began, but Lilith interrupted him.
"I understand. You may go," she said flatly, waving her hand. The servant quickly handed over the letter and excused himself, retreating silently from the garden.
Once alone, Lilith opened the letter with delicate fingers. As her eyes scanned the contents, her frosty expression melted back into a warm, tender smile. "Don't worry, my dear," she cooed at Noah. "This is a letter from Mama's good friend~."
Her cheerful tone piqued Noah's curiosity, and he babbled incoherently, trying to mimic speech, but only managed to let out, "Aaawoo...wooo…"
"Hmm? Is my little angel curious about what's in the letter?" Lilith laughed softly and kissed his forehead. "Well, let me tell you. My best friend is coming to visit us today. She's bringing her daughter, who's only a month older than you. You'll have someone to play with, isn't that wonderful?"
Noah blinked, trying to process the information. From what little he had managed to pick up of this world's language, he understood that someone important was arriving today, someone close to his mother. But he was still learning, and many of the words remained foreign to him. Regardless, the news intrigued him—perhaps this visitor could provide some clues about where he was in this vast world of Elysiom.
Lilith, still beaming, stood up with Noah in her arms and called for the maids. As she gave out instructions, the mansion burst into activity, with servants scurrying to prepare for the arrival of the guest.
Noah's thoughts churned as he contemplated the upcoming visit. Maybe this visitor would provide some insight into his situation. Despite having learned his name—Noah—he couldn't recall any significant character from the novels he had read with that name. And while he knew his mother was a noblewoman, no one had yet mentioned her name or his father's, leaving him with no clue which storyline he might be a part of.
His musings were interrupted by a loud rumbling in his stomach. The undeniable pang of hunger hit him.
"Uaaa~ Uaaa~" he cried out, signaling his discomfort.
"Oh, is my little angel hungry?" Lilith chuckled as she swayed gently, patting his back. "Alright, let's head back to the bedroom, and you can eat to your heart's content."
Noah smiled softly, raising his tiny hands as if to hug her face, and Lilith responded with a shower of kisses. He closed his eyes, relishing the warmth of her affection.
Back in the bedroom, Lilith reclined on the bed and gently opened her dress, revealing the nourishment Noah so desperately craved.
"Time to eat, my love," she whispered, cradling him tenderly. As Noah latched onto her, the comforting hum of his mother's lullaby filled the room.
The sweet taste of her milk instantly quelled his hunger, and soon, with his tiny belly full, Noah drifted back into a blissful slumber.
Lilith watched her son, her eyes filled with love and contentment. "Sleep well, my little Noah," she whispered, stroking his soft hair as she, too, began to rest, the gentle rhythm of his breathing lulling her into sleep.
