Edward's call reached me just as I left the shared office, my shoulders still tight with tension from the fight with Mark. His door stood ajar, and I saw him gesturing for me to come in with a small wave.
"Abigail, a moment?" he said, his warm voice contrasting with the storm I'd just walked out of.
I sighed, unsure I could take any more business talk, I clutched my laptop and nodded. Edward was seated behind his desk, his expression calm yet wise as ever. He motioned to the chair opposite him, waiting until I'd settled before speaking.
"Rough day?" he asked, his tone light, though the concern in his eyes was evident.
I managed a thin smile. "You could say that."
He leaned back, studying me for a moment. "I know the pressure these past couple of months has been immense, especially the last couple of weeks. Between the investor dinner, the project launch, and keeping up appearances, it's a lot for anyone to handle."
