Chapter 30 - Restoration of the Tome

Helen left the maids' quarters, her heart racing with anticipation and a hint of fear. She carefully scanned her surroundings, her eyes darting back and forth to ensure no one was following her. The courtyard was bustling with activity, but no one seemed to notice her or consider her suspicious. She blended in with the other maids and servants, her simple dress and apron allowing her to move unnoticed.

As she approached the ancient temple, Helen's nerves began to tingle. The guards stood at attention, their eyes scanning the entrance. She bent her head, hiding her identity, and quickened her pace. Just as she was about to pass them, one of the guards halted her steps.

"Who are you?" he asked gruffly, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

Helen lifted her head, her eyes locking onto the guard's. In a swift motion, her black eyeballs turned white, and she cast a spell. The magic lifted the guards off their feet, slamming them against the wall. They collapsed, unconscious.

Helen didn't hesitate. She approached the temple entrance, her eyes fixed on the padlock. Her eyeballs turned white once more, and she spoke the words of a ancient spell. The lock clicked open, and the door creaked as it swung open.

With a deep breath, Helen stepped inside the temple, her heart pounding in her chest. The air was thick with the scent of old dust and forgotten memories. She knew she had to move quickly, before the guards were discovered and the alarm was raised.

Helen stood before the pedestal where the Tome of Eldrid was stolen, her heart pounding with anticipation. She reached into her hidden cloak and retrieved the ancient book, its leather cover creaking softly. With a deep breath, she began to speak the words of the spell:

"Azura'thikriel, kal'dorvani, val'torviel, el'gorothi, tomi'reldrid, zha'thikriel!"

"As the heavens align, the ancient power awakens,

The secrets of the land, I now unseal.

The Tome of Eldrid, to its rightful place,

I restore, with magic's mighty grace."

The words echoed through the chamber, and the air seemed to vibrate with energy. The scroll magically left her hands, floating in mid-air as she continued to speak the spell. The Tome of Eldrid began to glow, its pages rustling softly as it settled into its rightful place.

The chamber was filled with a warm, golden light, and Helen felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over her. She had restored the Tome of Eldrid, and the ancient magic was once again complete.

As the Tome of Eldrid settled into its rightful place, a strange phenomenon swept across the land. The sick people, who had been bedridden and suffering, suddenly sat up, their eyes brightening with newfound health. They rose from their beds, stretching their arms and legs, completely cured. The once-deadly sickness had vanished, leaving no trace.

In the royal court, King Alem was in an urgent meeting with his ministers, discussing the chaos that had gripped the land. Suddenly, a royal guard burst into the chamber, his face flushed with excitement.

"What is it?" King Alem asked, his brow furrowed with concern.

"The sickness has left the land, Your Majesty!" the guard exclaimed. "The water, once sand, is now restored to its former state. The grains are good to eat again, and the people are recovering without treatment!"

The king's eyes widened in surprise, a smile spreading across his face. "This is indeed a miracle!" he exclaimed. "Summon the royal guards to investigate this further, I and the prime ministerwill go with you."

The guards, who had collapsed at the ancient temple, now stood up, their memories of the incident erased from their minds. They greeted the prime minister and the king, and the royal high ranked guards who escorted the king and the prime minister to the ancient temple to uncover the source of this sudden restoration.

The king, prime minister, and guards arrived at the ancient temple, but they found no one there. The Tome of Eldrid lay open on a pedestal, its pages glowing softly. The king's eyes widened in wonder.

"This is indeed strange," he said, turning to his prime minister. "What could have caused this?"

The prime minister shook his head. "It appears to be the work of magic, Your Majesty. Some powerful magician must have restored the Tome of Eldrid, perhaps fearing for their own life."

The king's brow furrowed in concern. "But who could have done such a thing? And why did they leave no trace?"

The prime minister shrugged. "We may never know, Your Majesty. But one thing is certain - the land is healed, and the Tome of Eldrid is once again in its rightful place."

The king nodded, his eyes still fixed on the glowing tome. "See that it remains so," he said finally. "Double the guards and ensure that no one disturbs the temple again."

And with that, the king and his entourage departed, leaving the ancient temple and its secrets behind.
