Chapter 32 - Help II

After minutes of searching, a glimpse of something caught her eyes, a flash of sandy blonde against the muted greens and brown of the forest.

"I . . I think I found her". Leila yelled to him pointing at the tree. Zeke immediately turned to the direction she was pointing at and he felt his breath hitch in his throat.

There she was suspended precariously from a tree branch ,her body slumped and her arms caught in a makeshift harness of branches and vines.

"Yvette". He shouted his voice breaking through the silence of the storm.

Yvette eyelashes slowly fluttered open and a glimmer of recognition sparked in her eyes. Zeke. He was here.

She whispered, relief washing over her like a balm . The fear of dying alone in the wilderness had gripped her heart but upon hearing his voice the dread dispatiated like mist in the sunlight.
