I opened my eyes abruptly, and everything started to spin. The morning buzz from the lack of sleep hit me straight like a hangover without the actual drinking.
Looking out towards the window, I cussed angry at the brightness from the 1pm sun. It is honestly too early for the sun to be this high and bright but I turned over to the otherside to lay in bed without losing my sight.
When time struck 1.45pm, I still felt exhausted despite being able to sleep an unawakened 4hours straight last night.
What a scam, how do I only feel more tired each day.
The cold dry air entered my lungs as I took a deep breath. I held back a cough but started wheezing due to the dry air, turning off the airconditioner, I turned on the air purifier.
Sitting up I looked around me, sighing. The room was a mess, after a night of snacking and doom scrolling, I am not really surprised at this point as it has become quite an often scene in my home. I stretched, and made the bed. Picking up the dirty laundry all over the floor, I put them in the laundry bag by the bathroom door.
I took out my toothbrush from the cup and put it under the heated running water. Putting on a drop of toothpaste, I started to brush my teeth. I looked at the green mug with disdain, the large embossing of "Mrs" on the mug was depressing, it reminded me of a failed marriage without its matching counterpart in blue. Gargling out my mouth with mouthwash, I did all the other necessities before heading down to the kitchen.
Making myself a cup of coffee, I leaned against the countertop looking at the envelope consisting of a letter.
My resignation letter. Finally.
I immediately terminate my contract employment and just pay off the debt, it has been awhile since I've been so excited, so I rather not want trouble to clash with the first day of the beta-testing. I have enough savings to last me a few months. It should be sufficient as I'll be earning the money back anyways.
I got ready for my day, did my make up and dressed up in a casual shirt and jeans. Ignoring the consistent buzz from my phone, getting a call early afternoon despite taking an off for the morning, just reminded me why I wanted to quit this job. The blinking name made me groan, it is my soon to be ex-Manager.
Picking up the call, I stayed silent.
"Hello Ms Genevieve, you're not at work today. We are backed up, we need you in now."
"I have the morning off, I'm sure the HR had contacted you regarding this yesterday."
"I don't care what HR says, I am the person-in-charge and is managing you, so you report to me. When I say you can go, you go. If I ask you to stop, you listen and stop. Is it that difficult? Are you deficit-"
I ended the call. Grabbing my keys and helmet, I started up my bike, putting my sunglasses in a small bag slung across my body.
Time to resign.
