Chapter 1 - 01 - The Beginning of The Everlasting Crown of Thorns

The beginning of the everlasting crown of thorns. The everlasting crown of suffering, pain and cries. I hope our moment together lasted longer.

Kuji's POV

It was getting dark outside and the sun was going down the horizons. I turned the tv on as I was walking to the living room table and grabbed the food my mom had just prepared on the table.

"Breaking News, The Kokono industries founder- Mr. Kurono Kokono collapsed today at 12:25 pm just outside the Kurono main building. He was brought to the nearest hospital, but unfortunately he was already declared dead on arrival."

Huh? What is this news? Kurono? Isn't that the company that creates those famous toys right now...

"Ma! Look that Kurono guy is on tv. It says here that he just died." I told my mother with a loud voice. After hearing what I said she loudly gasped and shouted "What!" While rushing from the kitchen to the dinner table where I was at.

"The police are still investigating his cause of death-"

"Aww! Kuji! This is why I told you to buy one of those Neocast things they make! Those things could really be useful nowadays you know!" My mom yelled at me in a worried tone.

"Me and your father are really worried about you. You live alone in tokyo and you barely have any friends who are willing to help you out in your daily struggles." My mom continued.

She was making a point and I wanted to agree with her but I really can't afford those things right now. I'd rather give my mother and father money everyday and let myself die than let them suffer.

"Mom! Isn't it ironic that you're telling me to buy those things to protect me while the person selling those things just died!" I answered. "Plus, I'd rather spend money on you guys!" I added. My mother still looked at me with a worried face.

"Kuji, I'm asking you as your mother. Spend your money on yourself and buy one to protect yourself. Me and your Father already feel guilty enough. You've spent so much on us, we can take care of ourselves~"

"BLAH, BLAH! MA~

This is my money and I spend it how I want Ma, I want to spend it on you two and what about it."

I looked at my handwatch and it was already 7:47, I recalled that the last train to my way home leaves at 8:00.

My mother wanted to say something "but Kuji-" but I tried to avoid her with a loud answer. "OH! and it's already getting late, I have work tomorrow too! I'll get going now Ma!"

I quickly rushed to finish my food and grabbed my jacket and wore it. "Ma the last train is about to leave! I've got to go now!"

I handed my mother some money and kissed her on her cheeks. "Bye again Maaa! Paaa!

I put my sneakers on and rushed to the station carrying my backpack...

Evangeline's POV (Kuji's Mom)

"Hey honey! Kuji forgot the bento you prepared for him on the table!"

"Oh you're right!" I told my husband. I wiped my hand in the apron I was wearing and rushed to get the bento box. "Honey! I'll just try to give this to kuji as he just got out. Maybe I can chase him". I rushed to wear my slippers and opened our door.

"Oh! Okay then! Hey run safely honey!" My husband reminded me. "Okay thanks! I'll be back!"

Kuji's POV

As I arrived at the station I checked the time again and thanked god as I was just in time for the last ride. I checked my balance and felt sad as I saw that I had close to 0 balance. I entered the train and suddenly- a loud explosion like sound was heard.

I looked through the train windows and there I saw a large cloud of smoke. I was looking for where it was coming from and to my unfortunate surprise, I saw that it was coming from near our home. More explosions came after another and gunfires were audible.

I quickly rushed outside the train as the doors were closing and excused myself to the people standing beside me. Everyone was pointing and looking at the clouds of smoke as we were all surprised. Everyone was scared as they were all running away from the location of noise and smoke. I was worried as to what happened to my mother and father. I rushed down the station's stairs straight outside the station building.

Tears were rolling down my face due to my obvious worry to what happened to my family. I tripped and fell but I quickly stood up ignoring the scratches I got. Worried, I tried calling my mother and father on my phone but the line is not reaching them. Running, I kept trying to call them but it was obviously not working.

I put my phone in my pocket as I was getting near our residence. The explosions and gunfires were not stopping and with hope I was praying that nothing bad would've happened to my Mother and father.

I reached our street- our home and there I was shouting everywhere. "MA! PA!" I shouted "MA! PA! ARE YOU THERE!" I screamed in fear as I heard no reply from anyone. I continued to shout while going room by room to find my mother and father.

I went upstairs and I saw no one. I looked outside the window and there I saw my mother running to get back home. "Ma!" I shouted. I quickly ran down the stairs and tried to go to Ma. "Kuji!" My mother shouted in fear while running holding a bento box. "Ma!!" I shouted while trying to get near her. But to my surprise and devastation. In all these gunfired and explosions. My mother was not lucky enough to avoid them. In front of me, my mother was shot in front of me. My eyes widened, everything felt like it was slower down. I looked my mother straight in the eye while she was falling to her supposed death. My mind couldn't really comprehend wat was happening... My mother was shot...
