Chereads / Apocalyptic Virus Entity / Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Resistance

Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Resistance

After receiving a feedback from the biological instinct of the Blacklight Virus, Xia Leng immediately became vigilant. He quickly jumped down from the roof of the scrapped vehicle he was on and swiftly moved to the back of the car.

Since acquiring this ability, this was the second time he had received such a dangerous feedback, indicating that something capable of threatening him was about to happen soon!

But he wasn't aligned with that group of people ahead. Xia Leng had long suspected that this makeshift group of refugees would quickly disband, which is why he had stayed in the rear, observing.

Sure enough, after hunting down just one zombie, the group had already begun to experience strong internal conflicts.

As for the apocalyptic warrior, he carried the corpse of a refugee on his back as he approached the gray crystal.

If he had arrived at the fortress earlier, he could have lived there based on his status as a Baptized One. Otherwise, he wouldn't have lowered himself to compete with ordinary refugees for a ticket.

But now, those fools were intimidated by his identity, so they wouldn't dare to try anything.

However, he forgot that there was another apocalyptic hunter in the group, someone on equal footing with him.

Just as he bent down to pick up the gray crystal, a sharp sound of a weapon slicing through the air suddenly rang out behind him!

Thud~

An arrow instantly pierced through the corpse on the apocalyptic warrior's back, the arrow's tail trembling with intensity!

"I knew you were up to no good. Later, I'll dig out the crystal from your skull!" The apocalyptic warrior, startled by the attack, cursed viciously.

As expected, it was the vision-enhanced apocalyptic hunter who shot the arrow, but it didn't hit the warrior himself.

The apocalyptic warrior was grateful for his foresight, having prepared by carrying a refugee's body on his back as a shield.

That hunter was only vision-enhanced; his speed shouldn't be much different from his own.

And even though he was a strength-type warrior, his leg strength was stronger than that of an average person, so naturally, his movement speed was also not slow.

He quickly grabbed the crystal and clutched it tightly in his palm. Then, he turned around and ran swiftly towards the sunlight, adjusting the position of the corpse to block the incoming arrows.

The apocalyptic warrior wore a sinister grin as he looked at the hunter ahead, who was still shooting arrows at him. He was determined to smash the hunter's head!

But the apocalyptic hunter showed no signs of retreating; he kept rapidly firing arrows!

When there were about 30 meters left between the two, the hunter suddenly revealed a sly smile, pulled the bowstring taut, and aimed at his opponent once again.

This time, however, he aimed slightly downward, firing at the warrior's leg as it briefly exposed itself during the run!

Swish!!

The arrow struck the apocalyptic warrior's thigh, causing him to feel intense pain, which slowed him down significantly, although it didn't affect his life.

"You bastard!"

The warrior, now enraged by the pain, cursed loudly and carefully repositioned the refugee's corpse to cover himself, trying not to expose any more weaknesses.

Swish!

Another arrow came flying, and this time, it pierced through the refugee's body and struck the apocalyptic warrior right in the heart!

This time, the deadly strike brought the warrior to a halt. He stumbled and fell to the ground, the gray crystal slipping from his hand, rolling aside with a crisp sound.

He looked at the now useless body on his back in disbelief, noticing it was filled with numerous arrows.

Most crucially, these arrows had all struck nearly the same spot, carving out a hole in the corpse!

And that final, fatal arrow had passed through the bloodied hole and pierced his heart!

Only a vision-enhanced apocalyptic hunter could achieve such an exaggerated level of accuracy…

"You…" The apocalyptic warrior, lying on the ground and spitting out a pool of blood, seemed unwilling to accept his fate and wanted to say something more.

Thud!

Another sharp arrow was fired, this time piercing straight through his right eye, into his skull, taking his last breath…

"Arrogant fool."

The apocalyptic hunter coldly looked at the corpse and the gray crystal ahead, not intending to retrieve it himself. He planned to coerce someone else into doing it for him.

Just as he turned to instruct a trembling refugee boy, who looked underage, to complete the task, a strong sense of danger suddenly surged behind him!

Clang~

A wooden club filled with rusty nails came crashing down, hitting the bow the apocalyptic hunter had quickly raised in defense!

He saw that it was a frail, terrified refugee woman who had attempted to ambush him, and a wave of anger surged through him.

"What, do you want to die too?!"

The apocalyptic hunter immediately lifted his right foot, intending to kick the woman away.

But the seemingly timid refugee boy behind him suddenly pulled out a wooden dagger from his pocket and stabbed it into the hunter's side!

"Let go of my mom!!"

......

The apocalyptic hunter looked down and saw the wound in his side, with only the hilt of the dagger visible. The intense pain quickly filled his eyes with bloodshot veins.

Rage and pain intertwined within him!

"You little bastard!"

Forcing himself to endure the pain, he pulled out the dagger, preparing to send this mother and son duo to the afterlife.

Bang~

But before he could act, a rusty iron hammer, seemingly out of nowhere, struck his head hard!

A stream of thick blood trickled down his forehead, flowing over his face…

The apocalyptic hunter was stunned by the blow. As he looked around in shock, he noticed that the same cowardly refugees who had shrunk away earlier had now all gathered around, their faces devoid of emotion.

"You all…"

Thud!

Another iron rod came down, followed by a second, then a third…

These refugees said nothing, each picking up their own weapon and silently striking the "nobleman" in front of them.

It seemed they were all determined to seize this rare opportunity, each strike fueled by their full strength, as the dull sounds of blows continuously echoed among the group.

About a minute later, the once lofty apocalyptic hunter was reduced to a pile of flesh, trampled underfoot by the crowd!

As for the crystal in his skull, it was unclear who had taken it during the chaos…

"Alright, now that the two so-called 'special' Baptized Ones are dead, it's just us refugees left. From now on, it's a fair competition on equal footing. Whoever gets that stone wins!"

As soon as one man finished speaking, he suddenly rushed forward.

The others quickly reacted, swarming towards the dark street!

Their only goal was the gray crystal on the ground, which could grant them a stable life. No one was thinking about working together to hunt zombies again.

Once they got their ticket, what did the lives of others matter to them…

Xia Leng watched the entire dramatic scene unfold from the back. He was a bit surprised, not expecting that these refugees, usually so humble in front of the Baptized Ones, would one day rise up in resistance.

But even now, he didn't make a move, as that lingering sense of danger had yet to dissipate; in fact, it had only grown stronger…
