Chapter 44: Victory without Bloodshed

Bellina.

She was wearing a pale white long gown with three red patterns on the cuffs.

It feels like a symbol of some kind of status.

Bellina recognized Long Erge and his sister at a glance.

But she refused Kyle's request to follow her.

"It's okay, just stay with the carriage."

With that, the brother and sister followed her into the fortress.

Entering the fortress, Viserys felt like he had opened the door to a fantasy world.

It was as if he were looking at a canvas painted with brightly colored paints.

Not to mention the colorful exotic flowers, this family actually used corals to decorate their garden!

The bright red coral looks like it's smeared with blood, so red that it's dazzling!

Passing through a long corridor, you will see the walls of which are painted with equally gorgeous murals using gold foil and various precious pigments!

Busy servants can be seen everywhere in the fortress, running tirelessly like worker ants.

That Bellina led the brother and sister through countless turns in this fortress.

Brother Long was fine, but Dany was a little dizzy.

After walking for about half an hour, the brother and sister were arranged in a side hall.

"Madam is still washing up, please wait for a moment."

  "no problem."

The brother and sister observed the so-called "side hall" which was almost big enough to host a dance party.

Although it cannot be said to be magnificent, it is quite stylish.

It seems that this family particularly likes coral decorations. In this room, there are roughly twenty bonsai-sized corals used as embellishments.

After looking around, Brother Long Er found that Danny seemed a little nervous. She sat upright, as if someone was watching her.

  He said casually:

  "A bit nervous?"

  Dany shook her head sheepishly.

"It's okay. You won't be nervous if you see each other more often."

In Viserys's view, the difference between someone who has seen the world and someone who has not is actually just a difference in proficiency.

If you drag the richest man in the world into Brother Long's world, he will also scream and shout.

After all, Dany had never attended any formal social occasions, so it was understandable that she felt a little awkward.

Half an hour later, Bellina came in.

"You two, the lady is waiting for you."

The brother and sister stood up, and Dany followed the second brother Long, passing through several porches, and finally saw Mrs. Meisers, who was dressed in luxurious clothes, on a terrace.

In fact, according to the nobles' understanding, visits should be made in the afternoon or evening.

It was really rude of the second brother Long to come here with his sister so early in the morning.

But when Mercers heard that they had been guarding outside all night, any unhappiness in her heart disappeared.

Under Bellina's arrangement, the brother and sister sat down.

Mercers' eyes kept moving over Dany's body, as if she had seen something she particularly liked, making Dany feel a little embarrassed.

After a few seconds, Meisers reluctantly moved her eyes away, then looked at Long Erge, raised the envelope in her hand and said:

"You're telling me you have a solution to these problems?"

"It cannot be said to be a complete solution, but it can be greatly improved, and at the same time, the probability of the Zainen family giving birth to healthy children will be greatly increased."

Messers looked at him seriously, revealing a sense of pressure.

But Brother Long Er had also seen some warlords, so this little bit of pressure was nothing to him.

"Ma'am, the problem is the water you drink."

Bellina, who was standing by, showed a trace of contempt in her eyes. This was the water from the sweet water canal. The nobles of Braavos had been drinking it for hundreds of years and there was nothing wrong with it.

In his opinion, Brother Long Er was just exaggerating.

  "Tell me about it."

Long Erge's sincere expression made Messers choose to continue listening.

"Physicians in Braavos like to call diseases like 'dizziness', 'insomnia', and 'easy fatigue' 'noblemen's diseases'. In fact, these are symptoms of 'lead poisoning'!"

  "lead poisoning?"

Methis said with some doubt, and Bellina beside her continued her master's words and expressed her doubts:

"Sir, lead is a good medicine used by many doctors. It has the effect of calming the nerves and helping sleep. How can it cause poisoning?"

Brother Long Er didn't intend to laugh at him. After all, he knew about lead poisoning only because of the times.

You should know that the tranquilizing soup that often appears in some pigtail dramas has "lead" added to it by the imperial doctors.

If the child is making a fuss, take this calming soup.

Ladies, if you can't sleep well, try this calming soup.

This has resulted in a large number of lead poisoning cases.

"There's a saying that talking about toxicity without considering the dosage is... biased." Brother Long Er explained.

"If you don't eat, you'll starve to death, but if you eat too much, you'll die of bloating. The same goes for medicine."

  He continued, addressing Messers:

"His Majesty the Sea King's illness is a typical symptom of 'anemia'. Although he has never disclosed his physical condition to the outside world, he definitely has all the symptoms I am going to talk about next."

"For example, chest tightness and shortness of breath, sallow complexion, loss of appetite, and sensitivity to cold air..."

"I haven't seen His Majesty the Sea King for a long time, but I dare say that his mental state is completely different when you see him in different weather conditions."

Mercers and Bellina glanced at each other quickly.

They both saw approval in each other's eyes.

Brother Long Er caught this little detail and decided to add fuel to the fire:

"Ma'am, if you ask me, the people most affected by lead poisoning are children."

When talking about children, Meisers' face became tense.

This word is almost a taboo word in the fortress!

"Mental retardation, that is, not smart enough."

"Muscle weakness means not being strong enough."

"Emotions are easily agitated, which means a bad temper."

If the second brother Long only said the first two points, then Meisers might be angry and think that he had ulterior motives.

After all, it is something everyone knows.

But when he said the third point, she couldn't help but believe it.

In the past ten years, no child of the Zainen family has grown up.

Either too stupid or too sick.

And they all have bad tempers.

Apart from the personal servants, there is absolutely no way that outsiders could know.

When their temper gets bad, doctors will prescribe "calming soup" for them.

  Thus, a vicious cycle begins.

Mrs. Meisers now believes it 80%.

"Then what can you do, sir?"

Brother Long Er breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that he had achieved most of his goal.

"Eat more lemons, fruits, fish and shrimps. Most importantly, don't drink water from the long canal anymore, but you can drink water directly from it."

Halfway through his words, Brother Long Er suddenly said seriously:

"Lady Meisers, I have a way to make the Zayn family the sole masters of Braavos."

"And this will be a victory without bloodshed!"
