Chapter 196 - Mako Unleashed

Mako's breath came in shallow, rapid gasps. Her muscles were taut, her skin prickling with the unfamiliar sensation of power coursing through her veins. She didn't know where this energy had come from, or why it was surging now, but it felt alive, almost sentient—like a wild beast begging to be unleashed.

The man recovered, his face twisted in fury, blood dripping from his nose and mouth. He staggered to his feet, swaying slightly but still standing. "You think you're tough?" he spat, wiping the blood away with the back of his hand. "You don't know what you're messing with."

Mako narrowed her eyes, feeling a strange calm settle over her, despite the adrenaline racing through her body. "I think I'm about to find out," she replied coolly. The air around her seemed to crackle with energy, invisible currents swirling around her like a storm waiting to break.

The man rushed forward again, but this time, Mako felt something shift deep within her. Her vision sharpened, and the world seemed to slow down. She could see every movement he made, every muscle fiber twitching, every bead of sweat forming on his brow. Time itself seemed to bend around her.

As he closed the distance, she thrust her hands forward instinctively, feeling the power surge from her core to her fingertips. A wave of force exploded out from her palms, a shimmering ripple of energy that distorted the air around it.

The man was hit mid-stride, and the force threw him back, slamming him against the alley wall with a bone-crushing thud. He slid down the wall, dazed but still conscious, a look of utter disbelief on his face.

"That all you got?" he sneered, but there was a tremor in his voice now, a crack in his bravado.

Mako felt a grin spread across her face. "Not even close," she whispered. She took a step forward, feeling the energy build within her again, this time stronger, more focused. She closed her eyes, reaching deep inside herself, and felt something there—something vast and untapped, like an ocean of raw power waiting to be summoned.

She opened her eyes, her gaze locking onto the man's, and extended her hands once more. This time, she could feel the power responding to her will, bending to her command. The air around her grew colder, the shadows lengthening, and a dark, swirling vortex began to form between her hands, like a black hole tearing open in the fabric of reality.

The man's eyes widened in fear. "What… what the hell are you doing?!"

Mako didn't answer. Her mind was focused, her thoughts clear. She could feel the void growing, a swirling mass of darkness and emptiness. It felt… right. She raised her hands higher, and the vortex grew larger, darker, more menacing.

Joseph, who had been standing back, now stepped forward, his face a mixture of awe and concern. "Mako, what is that? Are you sure you can control it?"

"I don't know," Mako admitted, her voice barely more than a whisper, "but I think I have to try."

The vortex seemed to pulse with life, a deep, resonant hum echoing from within it. The man on the ground tried to scramble to his feet, panic setting in. "Stop! Whatever you're doing… stop!"

But Mako felt something shift inside her, a new awareness, a deeper understanding of the power she wielded. She knew what this was. A void—a realm of nothingness, a place where matter and energy ceased to exist. She could send him there, send him to a place where he would be lost forever.

With a sudden, decisive motion, she thrust her hands forward, directing the vortex toward the man. The air around them roared with a deafening sound, as if the very fabric of reality was being torn apart. The vortex surged forward, expanding rapidly, swallowing up the light and sound around it.

The man screamed, a high-pitched wail of terror, and tried to run, but the vortex was too fast. It pulled him in, his body stretching and distorting as it was sucked toward the center. His scream was cut off abruptly as he was consumed by the void, disappearing into the darkness.

For a moment, everything was silent. The vortex hung in the air, spinning slowly, as if contemplating its next move. Then, with a final, violent shudder, it collapsed in on itself, imploding with a burst of energy that sent shockwaves through the alley.

Mako stood there, breathing hard, her hands still outstretched. The alley was quiet now, the air still. The man was gone—no trace of him remained.

Joseph stepped closer, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and admiration. "You… you just sent him to another dimension, didn't you?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.

Mako nodded, still feeling the echoes of the power coursing through her. "I don't know how, but… yeah, I think I did."

Joseph let out a low whistle, shaking his head. "Damn, girl. Remind me never to get on your bad side."

Mako laughed, the sound surprisingly light after everything that had just happened. "Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it," she replied, but there was a hint of something darker in her tone, a lingering sense of what she had just done.

Joseph glanced around the alley, then back at Mako. "We should get out of here," he suggested. "Who knows what else might be lurking around."

Mako nodded, still feeling the adrenaline pumping through her veins. She didn't know what she had unlocked within herself, but she knew one thing for certain: she was no longer the same person she had been just moments ago. Whatever this power was, it was hers now, and she was determined to understand it—no matter what it took.

As they turned to leave, Mako cast one last glance at the spot where the man had been. A shiver ran down her spine. The void universe… a place of endless darkness, where nothing could survive.

She wasn't sure if she would ever use that power again, but she knew one thing—she wasn't afraid of it. Not anymore.

They moved quickly, disappearing into the shadows of the city, leaving behind the eerie silence of the alley and the memory of the battle that had just taken place.

The night was still young, and Mako had a feeling this was only the beginning.

*As they slipped away into the darkness, the void still seemed to echo in Mako's mind, a reminder of what she was now capable of. She would need to learn more, and quickly, because she could feel something was coming. Something far more dangerous than anything she had faced before.*
