Lu Ming sat in front, his eyes occasionally glancing backward. Heaven knows how much he wanted to turn around and strike up a conversation with Qin Sheng. But since Qin Sheng didn't know him, he worried she might think he was being too forward, which wouldn't be good.
Just as he resolved to make an attempt, he turned slightly and said, "Qin Sheng…"
At that very moment, the teacher walked in.
Lu Ming: "…"
He had no choice but to turn back around, thinking he'd have another chance to talk to her after the exam.
This time, they were taking the comprehensive science exam. The teacher distributed the test papers.
Qin Sheng took a brief glance and then picked up her pen.
Her pace was steady, though her handwriting was rather messy.
The proctor, passing by Qin Sheng's desk, deliberately glanced at her paper.
In the usual tests, Qin Sheng rarely lost more than five points in comprehensive science, making her quite well-known in the science department.
The proctor, who happened to teach physics, noticed Qin Sheng's name and started paying attention.
Seeing her answers, he furrowed his brow, casting a surprised look at Qin Sheng.
It seemed she was quite capable. It looked like this time, Liang Hua would regret it.
Liang Hua had always been arrogant in front of the senior teachers, looking down on them. Those teachers, knowing the strength of Liang Hua's connections, dared not offend her and treated her courteously on the surface.
What they thought of her in private, however, was another matter.
Throughout the exam, the proctor kept circling around Qin Sheng's desk, observing her answers. Each time he glanced over, he was taken aback.
He couldn't help but wonder if Qin Sheng was simply filling in answers at random.
Yet her demeanor didn't seem to suggest that.
Returning to the podium, he began working through the final physics problem on the board. Generally speaking, the last problem is the most challenging, and the teacher who set this one was known for making things particularly difficult for students.
The proctor began to suspect whether the teacher had gone easy this time.
Even so, he ended up sweating profusely, his paper covered in scribbles.
After ten minutes, he had only managed to write down a partial solution.
By that time, Qin Sheng had already stopped writing. She was skilled at mental arithmetic and didn't need to jot down calculations. After completing the entire test, her scrap paper was still blank.
The moment it was permissible to submit the test, Qin Sheng went to the podium.
A test paper was suddenly placed on the podium, startling the proctor. He looked up and saw Qin Sheng. "Do you need something, student?"
"To submit my test," she replied.
"…" The proctor.
Adjusting his glasses, he widened his eyes, stumbling over his words, "Sub… submit your test?"
"Yes." Qin Sheng stood below the podium and obediently answered.
The proctor composed himself and waved her off, "Alright, you may leave."
As soon as Qin Sheng left, the proctor couldn't wait to pick up her test paper. As he reviewed her answers, he smacked his forehead and nodded repeatedly.
So that's how it is!
The proctor couldn't help but wonder who the real teacher was here, Qin Sheng or himself.
His actions didn't go unnoticed by the other students, who briefly glanced up before returning to their papers. The exam was incredibly difficult, with only half an hour left and many problems unsolved; they had no time to worry about anything else.
Seeing Qin Sheng submit her test early, Qin Churou sneered.
It seemed Qin Sheng had given up; she truly was not academically inclined. When it came to grades, Qin Sheng had clearly lost the battle.
Lu Ming, however, believed that Qin Sheng had already finished. His mouth fell open.
His sister-in-law was gunning for Su Yixiu's top spot; it looked like this perpetual second place would have to step aside.
He was stunned for just a few seconds before lowering his head again. He couldn't afford to let her leave him too far behind. Otherwise, what face would he have left?
