Pfft!!
A sales assistant at the cashier's desk spat her tea all over the computer, biting her lip and frantically wiping the screen.
Cheng Baola almost burst out laughing.
However, Song Jia's face turned cold as she glared viciously at Xu Zhengyang.
Just a moment ago, she had been sarcastic and hadn't dared to be openly confrontational. Cheng Baola was particularly sensitive to this kind of snide remark. She was easily provoked and had been bullied like this in the past, so Song Jia thought it was a surefire way to get under her skin. But now, a piece of trash like Xu Zhengyang had appeared.
"Where did this poor loser come from? Who do you think you are to speak here?"
"Cheng Baola, what's wrong? Are you afraid to speak? You used to turn your nose up at all the rich second-generation heirs, and now you've settled for this kind of guy? Isn't that desperate? Did you pick up a beggar off the street just to have someone to be with? You've really played your hand poorly!"
Song Jia reprimanded Xu Zhengyang and then coldly questioned Cheng Baola. She felt a surge of unspoken excitement.
Cheng Baola, weren't you so proud and pretentious, turning down the handsome and wealthy school heartthrob? Now look at you, with no one wanting you!
You're really pathetic! You deserve this!
Song Jia silently gritted her teeth.
"Do I need your permission to speak?"
Xu Zhengyang retorted.
"Yes, you do. Your words need my approval because I have more money than you. I'm here to buy clothes, while you're here to rent them. That's the difference. Remember that!"
Song Jia stepped forward, gritting her teeth and glaring with round eyes, completely discarding any pretense of civility.
"Let's go."
Cheng Baola tugged at Xu Zhengyang's hand and said quietly.
However, when that fatty, Sun, saw Cheng Baola actively pulling Xu Zhengyang's hand, he immediately became displeased. Jealousy flared up in his heart, and he promptly shoved Song Jia aside with a hearty laugh:
"Miss Cheng Baola, is it? Haha, nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you. How about this—choose whatever clothes you like, and I'll buy them for you as a welcome gift. How does that sound?"
The fat man smiled obsequiously, his eyes roaming over Cheng Baola's body.
"Sorry… I don't need them."
Cheng Baola frowned and shook her head lightly.
"Don't be so formal. I meant what I said. You'll be attending an important party in a couple of days, and it wouldn't be good to show up without proper attire. It's not appropriate to not accept this gesture, don't you think?"
The fat man was somewhat perceptive and smiled, seeing through Cheng Baola's thoughts.
Cheng Baola hesitated for a moment. She wasn't really considering whether to accept the fat man's "kindness" but was indeed contemplating the situation.
She had offended too many people during college, and after graduation, she had been struggling and couldn't accomplish anything she wanted. It was only out of necessity that she became a fitness trainer. For this birthday party, she wanted to ask her good friend to help smooth things over with those people, even if it meant just apologizing.
However, seeing her hesitation, Song Jia exploded.
"No way! Why are you buying clothes for her? You promised you'd only buy clothes for me. Why are you also buying for her? I refuse to agree! You can only buy for me, not for her!"
Song Jia clung to the fat man's arm, half-pouting and half-complaining.
Damn Cheng Baola, this vixen, she's at it again! She's managed to enchant this fat man once more.
"Dear, you don't know Cheng Baola's tastes. Even if you buy something, it'll be wasted. She won't appreciate it! Back in college, even when the school heartthrob gave her a car, she didn't want it!"
Sun, the fat man, cast a disdainful glance at Song Jia. He was bored with her and, upon seeing Cheng Baola, found Song Jia to be nothing more than trash.
He subtly shook off Song Jia's hand, not wanting Cheng Baola to get the wrong idea, and then with a fake smile, said:
"We're all alumni, so if I'm giving clothes to one, I should give to both. Fairness, you know!"
Song Jia looked venomously at Cheng Baola.
She realized that this fat man was completely infatuated with Cheng Baola and that she couldn't stop him.
"Cheng Baola, you little slut, if you dare to accept Sun's clothes, I won't spare you!"
She shouted hysterically.
"I wasn't planning to accept them!"
Cheng Baola replied angrily.
Xu Zhengyang, however, looked grim. The way they referred to Cheng Baola as cheap and trashy made it clear that this woman truly had no idea who she was.
With that thought, Xu Zhengyang sneered coldly and looked around the store once more.
Seeing him look around, Song Jia shouted angrily:
"Do you have any shame? Cheng Baola hasn't accepted them, so where did you come from? What are you looking at? Do you want to help her accept them? Dream on! Do you really think Sun would buy clothes for you? Are you an idiot?"
"Stop shouting! This guy is doing the right thing. Pick out what you want. Two pieces are fine, haha..."
The fat man said with a grin.
Song Jia was nearly in tears.
"Sun, how can you do this? You promised to only care for me. She's completely ignoring you. Why are you still pursuing her?"
What she found most infuriating wasn't Sun's change of heart.
It was that Cheng Baola, with her cold demeanor and blatant rejection, still managed to captivate Sun. This was what made her most envious, as Cheng Baola easily achieved the status that Song Jia had to use all her resources to barely attain.
At this moment, Xu Zhengyang coldly asked the cashier:
"Have they made any payments?"
"Not yet."
"Good. From now on, all clothes in this store are under my authority. They are not allowed to be sold to them."
