T/W: Foul Language
"Let's take the path along the ridge," Mark stated as he and Penn were gathering their equipment. "It's the most scenic route to the peak. With the difficulty of the trail, we'll ride the horses from here on out."
"Sounds good," Penn responded, closing the bag and packing it behind the saddle. They both mounted their steeds with ease, steering them toward the chosen path up the mountain. Together the pair veered slowly up the steep incline, letting the horses take their time. The further they climbed, the fewer people they came across - a welcomed time.
Mark would occasionally talk about people they both knew in the units stationed at Penn's previous base, or even about Tennant and his wife. Penn, on the other hand, only talked lightly about the few people he had met so far. A light and pleasant conversation flowed between the two like old times.
