Karen raised an eyebrow, her smile widening. "But how would you get back to me? Last I checked, you don't have my number, do you?"
The realization hit me—I didn't have her number, and honestly, I didn't want it. "You're right, I don't. Maybe we could chat on Instagram?" I suggested, hoping that would be the end of it.
"Instagram? Really? Give me your phone," she said, extending her hand. "I'll put my number in."
Her tone left no room for argument. Reluctantly, I handed her my phone. She quickly typed in her contact details, then handed it back with a triumphant smile, as if she'd won some unspoken game. "Now we're all set. Call me whenever you like," she said before walking off, her steps exuding satisfaction.
