The afternoon light cast a soft glow over the city, filtering through the tinted windows of Lucas's sleek black car as it navigated toward Aurora's mansion.

Gabriel, ever attentive in the driver's seat, kept his focus on the road, though his eyes flickered to the rearview mirror now and then, watching his boss and Aurora, sensing that this was one of those rare, quiet moments for Lucas.

In the back seat, Lucas glanced down at his tablet, scrolling through the afternoon's headlines.

His eyes moved steadily across the screen, absorbing the news, though it was clear his thoughts were elsewhere.

After a few minutes, he looked over at Aurora, breaking the silence.

"You know, tomorrow the council's convening," he said. "They'll be discussing the transition of leadership for Grey's pack, along with… some newly open positions within the ranks."

Aurora raised her eyebrows, not quite expecting the conversation to veer in that direction.
