Nine years have passed since Konan was unexpectedly reborn into the world of Naruto.
Although she was completely thrown off the loop for the first couple of years after being suddenly torn away from her husband and young daughter, she was forced to get her head in the game if she wanted to survive in the hidden rain.
In her past life, she always enjoyed rain and the cloudy sky that accompanied it but after living in the land of rain where the downpour never seemed to stop she grew sick and tired of it and the shadow it cast over her heart.
The first couple of years in her new life were relatively stable, her father and mother loved her very much and did their best to secure her safety they were exactly the sorts of parents she strived to become in her past life.
Unfortunately that didn't last long as at the age of 5 her father died from unknown circumstances though Konan guessed that it might be the work of a ninja.
After the death of her father, it fell on her mother's shoulders to feed the both of them, unfortunately her mother only knew how to cook, clean and knit, skills not in very high demand so she was forced to sell the only thing of value she had, her body.
Although her mother tried to hide it, Konan could notice all the signs, her guilt ridden and shame filled eyes, the new marks and bruises on her body that she tried to hide and the way she would sometimes softly cry while holding her at night.
Although Konan missed her family and felt somewhat bad at being reincarnated somewhere infinitly far away from her family, she trusted that her husband would do a good job and take proper care of their daughter.
He would probably be very sad but she knew that he would still do his best for their daughter.
Luckily at least they were still back on earth and wouldn't need to live in such a dreary place like the land of rain.
Although her husband liked to put up a serious facade she knew how gentle he was at heart, a place like this would do him no good.
Konan started training everyday from the age of five. Unfortunately there was no ninja who could guide her but she still had a basic understanding of chakra which she used to first train her chakra control, learning water walking in just six months and being able to strengthen her body with her chakra to make her move much faster or make her skin much tougher.
Although she attempted the Shadow clone Jutsu many times as it was the only Jutsu she remembered the handsigns for, she was never able to perform it either because of her low chakra or due to not fully understanding the Jutsu.
At the age of 6 Konan's mother left but never returned, Konan searched for her for weeks but couldn't find her.
Konan prayed that her mother had abandoned her but she knew deep within that she had most likely met with a tragic fate.
That was how Konan was left alone to fend for herself in the land of unceasing tears at the young age of 6.
Afterwards Konan could only live off by stealing, there wasn't any work she could do besides prostitution so she had to live through theft.
She felt bad about stealing from shopkeepers as she knew that they were also struggling to provide for their families but she couldn't afford to starve.
A few months after Konan started living by herself she encountered an orange haired boy her same age who was being beaten mercilessly by a shopkeeper as he curled up into a ball.
He had been caught trying to steal and the shopkeeper had no mercy as he hurled insults at the boy and kept kicking him with his thick and sturdy boots.
Fearing for the young boy's life Konan intervened, using her meager skills she first attacked the man stunning him before grabbing the orange haired boy and running away.
That was the first encounter between Konan and Yahiko.
Konan and Yahiko quickly became friends as they bonded over their similar circumstances as orphans who had to fight to survive every day.
The land of rain wasn't a nice place to live. Hanzo of the Salamander was a tyrant, he and those who worked under him had no care for the common people.
Being killed by a hidden rain Shinobi after offending them wasn't uncommon, although it wouldn't be done in broad daylight, those who displeased ninjas would usually disappear the next day if not by the end of that day and never be found.
After the second Shinobi world war, the borders were closed, prohibiting both entry and exit to the land of rain, this collapsed all trade and the price of goods skyrocketed as poverty became increasingly common with most people being considered lucky if they could find something to eat everyday.
With hunger, misery and fear being the most common things in the land of rain kindness wasn't very easy to come by.
Most people ignored other people's struggles, after all who didn't struggle in the current day?
Everyone looked after themselves, still, humans were social creatures who yearned for companionship, that applied to both Yahiko and Konan.
Konan taught Yahiko what she knew about chakra control and with their teamwork, for the first time in a long time, both Yahiko and Konan were able to eat everyday not having to sleep with empty stomachs full of only stomach acid.
A year after meeting Yahiko, Konan also found a pale red haired boy curled up in a corner. With his body soaked under the rain as he shivered from the cold, he looked very delicate and pitiful.
Recognising him, Konan approached and upon noticing her he looked up at her with his purple eyes.
A shiver ran down Konan's spine as she met the gaze of the most powerful eyes in the world, the eyes possessed by the sage of six paths and awakened and latter implanted in Nagato by non other than the legendary Madara Uchiha.
Konan hesitated for a second before she steeled herself and held out a hand to Nagato.
Looking at her hand Nagato hesitated before grabbing hold of it and Konan pulled him up to his feet.
Konan wasn't sure why she was brought into this world, there was probably no actual reason behind it but feeling Nagato's cold hands and sensing his fear and sadness she decided she would at least make sure that the three of them wouldn't live and die so miserably, she would save Yahiko from dying due to Hanzo, stop Obito from manipulating Nagato and foil Madara's plans to revive and become the ten tails jinchuriki.
