Chapter 11 - Grandma Adele's Bombshell

ARIELLE'S POV

An  expression of unease runs down my spine as I walk into my parents' house. Mother seldom calls me, and the way she talked to me made me awkward. She sounding sweet  as well as  soft-spoken is an indication that she needs something urgently and  I bet it won't go well for me. My doubts are affirmed when I found my parents within the sitting room, Grandmother Adele  sitting In front of them, their expressions tense. "Arielle" my mother says. She breathes out with alleviation as I walk toward her trying to figure out what is going on. I reluctantly sit down , the atmosphere was tense as in you  can hear a pin drop. What precisely is going on here? Wedding dramatization, maybe? Did I mess something up with the arrangements? Grandmother Adele grins at me reassuringly, but I can't calm my dashing heart. My instinct  is telling me that something is off and it has everything to do with me. Loretta and Ariel  call off their engagement,Grandmother Adele  says. "She needs to focus on her career for a bit longer, and as such, she has chosen to walk out of their relationship. I squint in incredulity. She what? I clear my throat and turn to look at my  parents, but their grave expressions let me know this isn't a joke.  Are we rescheduling the wedding? I asked, dumbfounded. Loretta has put off the wedding four  times for as long as I can remember , so this doesn't precisely astonish me, but it's unquestionably very late now. Most of the arrangements cannot be cancel without punishment. Grandmother Adele shakes her head. "We won't cancel the wedding. This marriage is  long overdue, and it will continuously implied to be an arranged marriage. She looks at my parents distinctly. "We've let these adolescents run wild, and presently we're paying the cost.

It's best to get  things back on track as fast  as we can.Mother and Father turn to me, their expressions terrible. You ought to wed Ariel,Mother says. An apprehensive snicker gets away from my lips, and Father clenches his jaw. It  can't be serious can it? Mom, I mumble. Is this some kind of joke? Loretta and Ariel have put off their marriage a few times. This isn't something strange. We'll handle it.Grandma Adele grins at me and shakes her head. This isn't a joke, sweetheart. I will not acknowledge Loretta into my family again. She has thrown my family name in the mud alot .If  this merger is to be pulled through, the bride must be you Arielle" I ran a hand through my hair, confused.

. "Have you talked to Loretta and Ariel? I don't get it, Grandmother Adele, there must be some kind of misconception somewhere. I promised I would talk to Loretta? She shakes her head. Paraventure she changed her mind. I'm not willing to acknowledge her again. She has toiled with my family a lot. The lady I needed Ariel to wed has continuously been you, and maybe this is a way the universe is permitting me to amend my mistake before it's become late. The wedding will go ahead, and the bride must be you." I look at my parents, but they now bow their heads in shame. This… this can't be real,l dreaming, somebody should please wake me up.Wait a minute! does Ariel know? Grandmother Adele gestures. "He's been initiated. Warren has a history of fruitful organised arranged marriages and he's well mindful of that. He knows what is anticipated of him and l believe he will not disappoint me."

I scowed, my stomach churning. What precisely is going on? Loretta never told me she'd called off the engagement with Ariel when she came for her dress fitting, and presently I'm being compelled that I'm wedding him in her stead? Typically strange, and there's no way either Loretta or Ariel would acknowledge this. I rise on my feet and walk toward the door, my mind reeling. I need a moment to think, to talk to Loretta and Ariel. It's a misconception that's brought about  Grandma's radical decision-making. "Arielle." Grandma's voice stops me in my steps as I wrap my hand around the doorknob.

"Your efforts will be pointless. If you would like for this merger to continue, you'll execute your part perfectly. You must wed Ariel." I look back at her, noticing the assurance in her eyes. I gesture courteously before walking out, her words reverberating in my head. Grandmother is the sweetest lady I know she has been like a mother to me  but she is very strict especially when it comes to her family. There's no going back. She rules the Warren family with an iron-clenched hand. I'm absentminded as I walk through the house, uncertain of what to indeed think. "Sweetheart!" I turn at the sound of my father's voice and discover him strolling toward me, sadness written all over his face. "I'm so sad to saddle you with this all of a sudden.

Warren just informed us of this change now. I wish I could've broken the news to you differently." I gesture as he falls into step with me. "This… Father,  this is crazy, right? Ariel  and Loretta adore each other." Father shakes his head. "Right now love isn't sufficient any longer. Presently they've stated that they'll not accept her as Ariel's wife, love can't spare them. She made her choice, Arielle." I stop within the passage and turn toward him. "She made her choice yo said but I'm the one who has to pay the price." Father breathes in profoundly, an implication of hesitance in his look. "I'm so sorry, Arielle. They won't alter their minds. This arrangement initially involved a marriage between Ariel and you.

They made an exemption because Ariel fell in love with her. She lifted the burden you were implied to carry, but it was continuously yours." My heart turns horrendously, and I shake my head. "If I was continuously implied to wed him, she should've remained clear from him. You can't anticipate me to wed my sister's ex-father. You can't do this to me. Do you realise how messed up this is? Seriously, You can't condemn me to a marriage with somebody who is my sister's fiancé " Father breathes in shakily and looks to the side. "Arielle, you have no choice. For a very long time, we've depended on Warren. In case this merger didn't go through, it's bankruptcy for us. For you  to keep your company and the investment funds I promised you, you'll wed him." My eyes extend as frustration washes over me. "Are you threatening me?" Dad sighs. "I'm not, Arielle. It's the gospel truth. If you refuse to marry Ariel, we'll lose everything. Everything Warren has done for us… it would take me a lifetime to reimburse them. Think this thoroughly, sweetheart. He would treat you well, and Warren adored you. It's a little cost to pay for everything we've been given, everything we stand to pick up from this merger. Do not disregard your wedding Ariel implies the company will drop into your hands, not Loretta's. I will guarantee it.

You'll acquire my shares, indeed even if your mother gives hers to Loretta." I scowl at him in scepticism. He can't be serious, can he? He can't genuinely think that this appears indeed remotely interesting to me. I grit my teeth and walk absently, my heels clicking uproariously on the marble floor. I have to look for  Loretta. I don't know what she's thinking, but I demand that she clean up her mess. I might cherish Ariel but I have no aim of being her replacement.
