This world where I live is vast, gigantic, nothing that a mere mortal could entirely visit in his life.
In just this continent their is a total of seven kingdom, some unexplored lands and unknown territories.
Humans lives in 3 of those 7 kingdoms and 4 others where occupied by other species such as Dwarfs or Elfs and many others.
They were the guardians of each of those territories, thanks to each gods they could live in prosperity ans develop continuously, it was a very balaced continent.
Far from that, the unknown, nobody ever came back to say what their is, some say endless oceans, some say other new countries, one thing is for sure, nobody really knows.
To sum it up, unknown beauties, very beautiful sceneries with a lot of variety, making every single scene unique.
Of course, some dangers too, part of lands that could kill you just entering it, existence that could erase an entire civilisation by flicking their fingers and so much more.
And in the middle of that their is me, in this lost village, far from society, far from anything beautiful, just lost in this land, in this absolutely horrific land, siffering and close to death.
This village, if we can even call it as such is not in one of the seven kingdoms, it is in what people call "the demonic land", in some books called Abyssia.
Its a land where every human that enters it dies in less than 3 months, killed by ghosts, spectres, goules but mostly by the demonic infection on all the territory that eat your entire body.
How did I finish here, I realised quite late what happened in the past and how we even got here.
Village chief : "For stealing an innocent woman, you Joan and your family will be chased out of town"
Joan (Mc's Dad) : "I did not do that, I can't even move..."
Village chief : "Shut up"
My family and some others were banished from our previous locations, we all knew that we would die, whether it would be by ghosts or just the infection.
And not even talking about the demons that could just appear at any moments and kill us all within seconds.
Why had we been all chased out, well for absolutely nothing, we did nothing wrong, we were just used by others, bullied and robbed of everything for no reason.
Village chief : "Guards escort them outside and take their identity cards"
Joan : "NO...how dare you..."
After my 15 years anniversary where I discorvered my talent "commander", a two star talent, some families were accussed by the chief of the town of robbing the food, also of murders and much more horrible crimes.
At the end of a fake trial were everyone was against us from the beginning anyways and were we had not even the slightest chance we were all exiled.
Joan : "How are we going to live from now on, we cant even make money"
Lucian (the mc) : "We will find a good place to live"
During that time the chief and his son, true responsible of the crimes were easily able to get away from trouble, they were able to escape their doom by putting all of this on us.
Some would say that this would be better than dying immediately but I personally think that it would be better to be burned or decapitated than to be slowly eaten by the infection.
At the end 5 families from different spaces were accused of the different crimes of the chief, 1 family for each crime.
Destiny chose us to be part of the ones that were 'chosen', undeniably we were unlicky, it seemed that for us, our futur was already fixed and scelled, death...
Joan : "Go Hunt, we have no food again"
Lucian : "Yes, yes I am going"
One month was going by, two months and then suddenly the 3 months period was starting, as time went by, things were gradually going more and more awful for us.
By wondering a lot in the demonic land we found our only source of food which was an infested forest but not too infested near the border of the human kingdom, to the West from our original position.
Lucian : "We can't go somewhere else or some towers could see us and try to kill us"
One of the adults : "Atleast we are okay here"
The same for water thanks to a river near the mountains, this place was kinda perfect, allowing us to survive.
Because we were hidden and so close to humans we were pretty safe from any beasts or monsters that this place could have.
Thanks to us, the young kids with new powers and sometime the adults we were able to chase the rest of them.
One of the kids : "Each night rheir is a monster, like for real can't I even get a full night of sleep"
Another one : "Stop complaining, if you want to die, then sure go sleep, don't complain 6h of sleep is enough"
By training in secret I could stand alive and make my skill better, because I knew that if I killed demons I would get better, so I took those opportunities to gradually increase my power.
One of the kids : "Where is Lucian again"
Another one : "Nobody knows"
Some people could think that I did that to protect my own people, my family, but I didnt care about that, it just gave me the best opportunity to do it and be stronger, I just take it.
In fact, what the chef of the town did to me made me very angry against everyone but mostly, made me angry about myself.
When the time came to get my power like every kids in town at my 15th birthday, I hope and prayed to the gods that I could have atleast a three star talent or even get super lucky and get the legendary five stars "hero" but at the end I just got something pretty normal.
With just that, I would go absolutely nowhere, every person that is known in the kingdom is atleast a three stars, it seems as if I would live a nobody's live.
Mc's mother : "You are just a dispointement, when I have the chance I am going to sell you to the army"
I was neither good nor extremely bad, I will surely finish in the army, in a farm, maybe guard if I'm lucky, it would be not that bad if atleast my friends had worst, but they didn't all of them had atleast two stars and 2 of them even three stars, It would not be easy to stand out.
But that could have just been a setback, a temporary thing, with some training, time, just maybe I could get somewhere.
If I try really hard, train everyday I am sure I could get recognised like my heroes so everyday I compared my damage done to the mountain to the other person.
After months, again and again where I took every opportunity to train, when searching for some food, water, even at night, I had not really progressed.
Lucian : "That's just not enough, I can't defeat a 3 stars with just that amount of power"
During that time, one day I saw a big demon, I knew it was a demon, with horns and every thing else to it, with him two persons covered by different color hood.
The main one made me look at the ground without realising it, nd the grey and gold hood were just their with him, but they did not seem weak at all.
Demon : "Oh we finally found what we wanted"
Grey hood : "Then let's just wait"
Their Aura was so strong that everyone in the village that was pretty far from me got alerted and came to me.
We all knew that he was very powerful and that the two person with him, presumably his servants were also far far stronger than us, they were far from us but we were all afraid of them.
One of the parents : "Sh...the demons, I thought they never got out of their territory in small groups"
Another one : "We are in deap trouble, they will not let us survive here"
Was it the end, the thing that I wanted to evade the most and I can do nothing against it, but what did I expect anyway.
I though that maybe if I was stronger people would unbanish me, just stupid, or else was I hoping to save myself fronm the infections and the demons when even paladins and knights cant do anything about it.
The demon : "Humans, do not fear, I want no harm, I know that I wont gain anything by killing you, in fact, I have even a proposition for you to come live at my castle for a better life and get revenge"
We were absolutely chocked by that sentence, it was very weird, how could he even expect us to answer with all his frightening aura serounding him.
But we also had no answer to give him anyways as the request was so new to us, even though we could clearly not see any advantages to say yes, we still remains humans after all.
One of the adults : "What do we even answer ?"
We would have been stupid to go far from our unique source of food and also come clother to the source of the mana infectiob and the demons themselves.
Was he even asking for an answer though, we didnt really have a choice to begin with, what would happen if we said no, even if by some miracles they do not kill us, we would still die from the infestation.
Joan : "Do we even have a choice here, qi would rather follow demon that die"
Mother of mc : "Don't say something so stupid"
Their seems to be no real good choice or atleast not one that would mean anything else that death, as far as the offer get, it was bad anyways, but it seems the demon in front of us knew that as well.
Demon (the same one) : "I know what you are all thinking of, I dont doubt that for you, my proposition seems suspicious, but we can save you from your incoming doom, the method will change all of your body by transforming you by its your only hope
Grey hood : "Dont forget humans, that if you dont take the opportunity offered right now, you are all gonna die"
When the other was talking it seems more of a threat than an actual offer but we didnt have another choice anyway...we cleary already knew our answer.
Adult : "Well atleast we can live more time"
Another adult : "And if we die we die, atleast we tried"
Lucian : "..."
A kid : "We don't have a choice"
The main demon made his aura come back, just enough to let us move and take some necessities with us to go, he already saw that we had taken his offer.
With the help of one of the covered person we were almost instantly teleported in front of a big castle that we assume would be the demon king castle where all the demons live.
Adult : "Woah we didn't even move"
A kid : "We did so much distance in just an instant"
Gigantic, enormous, in complete ruin, would be the words that would describe it the best.
A kid : "Are we seriously gonna live here ?"
Another one : "Seems like it"
Their was avsolutly no one at the exterior of the castle but a lot of big towers suronding it, allowing to see around, even on top of the mountains.
He showed us where small demon live in small abandonned house but it was in fact just a cover for the gigantic world that was hinding in the underground.
A kid : "No way in hell I am living here, I am gonna go back in the forest"
An adult : "Then you are gonna go back alone"
The same kid : "I said nothing"
Our entire community was now living in thise underground facilities that was largely better than before, in area or confort, even though we were kept far from the other.
We made ourself at home and got pretty nicely with our new home, because off all that happened today we were very tired.
Grey hood : "Time to wake up, sleepy human"
One kid : "For once I had good sleep"
The day after, the demon we had seen yesterday made us come to the castle, the other demon that were there, presumably of high rank were looking at us pretty badly.
We entered some abandonned rooms and corridors, then enter the main room that had crack walls and a big wall beind the main throne that was heavily decorated.
Grey hood : "In line please"
He did what he promised to the adults by totaly transmorming them into demons, one by one, but not to us.
Grey hood : "Okay adults done now kids"
One kid : "Why is he changing his thing"
Another one : "Shhh"
To make it seems like it and deceive us he still injected us something but I could see that it had not at all the same effect.
In fact their was something we didnt know at that time, and what he had prepared for us, but it wouldn't take long before he made his intention very clear.
Kid : "Woah my arm is very itchy"
Another kid : "We don't transform like our parent is it normal ?"
Kid 3 : "Maybe because it takes more time"
Kid : "Well we will see"
It was not what was injexted to us that was making us stay alive but the power of the man in grey hood and that I already knew it myself.
Lucian : "It's weird"
Folowing that my life drastically change, all of us kids had to work with the demonic army from day to night whereas all older men were at the construction of more buildings and womans to keeping the smaller child or just removing the dust of the castle.
Joan : "We don't need you anymore Lucian"
Mother of the mc : "You better make us proud in the army, now get out"
All our parents change by becoming demons, as if they didn't know that we existed, but us nothing we didnt seem to change at all.
After some time, the truth we finally discovered, something that would change the life of the five of us, but something that would change more literally mine.
