The air in the room felt heavy despite Fiona's warmth pressed against me. Her determination, her unwavering resolve to stand by my side, was both a comfort and a burden. As much as I wanted to shield her from what was to come, I knew Fiona was no longer the woman who waited in the background. She was my Luna, fierce and unwavering.

Her words still echoed in my mind as I sat at my desk late into the night, poring over maps of the eastern border. The rogues' positioning didn't sit well with me. Their movements were too precise, their timing too deliberate.

Marcus had delivered a report earlier, confirming that they hadn't crossed the boundary, but something about their presence gnawed at me.

"Alpha," Marcus's voice called from the doorway, pulling me from my thoughts. He stepped inside, his expression grim. "I wanted to update you before turning in for the night."

I nodded, gesturing for him to sit. "Go ahead."
