In the Headmaster's office, Dumbledore paced around as he usually did, walking to and fro while talking to the various portraits on the walls.
"You need to figure out who handed that coin to your boy Albus." A particularly solemn voice spoke while sipping tea casually.
"No! By Merlin's trap! You need to figure out everything you can about the one you called Mr. Error first! He's clearly the one that needs our attention." Another voice called.
The two portraits looked at each other through their frames and started an argument that ended in the top portrait pouring his tea down and dousing the person in the portrait below with hot tea.
"*sigh*"
Dumbledore waved his arm and all the portraits were covered by a curtain, muffling any sounds of their fighting.
Looking around his office, Dumbledore walked to a wall and tapped on a specific spot on the wallpaper, opening up a secret compartment which housed a rather magical mirror.
"Respected Arrodes, do you know who Mr. Error is?"
The mirror remained still for a moment, like it was dead before words suddenly appeared on its face with all the liveliness of a toddler.
"Yes, I do. Based on the principle of reciprocity, would you like a question or a punishment?"
Dumbledore's brows furrowed as he looked at the magical mirror in frustration while cursing himself for having forgotten that one couldn't just carry on a normal conversation with the mirror.
"Punishment.", Dumbledore said knowing whatever it was that he chose it would be equally embarrassing since the mirror just worked like that, and at least by choosing a punishment he could maintain his image in the staff's eyes by simply saying that the mirror made him do it.
"In front of all the students, put on a monocle on your right eye and say the following, 'Mr. Error is the greatest and he is coming back!!'"
Dumbledore froze, his mind rippling with the political and social consequences his words would have, especially how he might have to convince his staff that he hadn't been corrupted or worse.
He looked at the mirror with wide eyes and then slowly calmed himself down. Looking at it with a little anger he slowly asked, "Could you tell me about Mr. Error?"
"Mr. Error!!! Of course, I can tell you about the greatness of Mr. Error. How can I not!? It took me a lot of self-control! Believe me, when I say this, it took me a great amount of self-control to not start telling you about him the first time I spoke about him!"
'And why does a mirror have more self-control than me?' Dumbledore lampooned while tossing a lemon drop into his mouth.
He paid close attention to the mirror's next words since he was paying a great price for it.
Words made out of a grey fog began to appear on the mirror and Dumbledore read them as they were.
"Mr. Error is the greatest being in all of history and is the originator of the world as you know it today. He is the cause behind magic and is also the cause behind the school you are currently the Headmaster of, Hogwarts."
"Mr. Error's list of achievements over history is so great and magnanimous that it would take an entire year to write them up."
"Most of the Gods and Goddesses alive today wouldn't even be able to maintain their sanity today without his help."
"Although you have worked on keeping the planet protected, it would not have been possible without 'His' loving grace."
The words on the mirror stopped appearing and wiped away before one final sentence came up.
"'He' is the one who has been at every difficult moment in history while deciding the course it should take."
Dumbledore frowned reading the sentences.
Arrodes had never given such a jubilant description of anyone he had asked about before.
It was strange and mysterious.
Dumbledore looked at the image on the mirror that had shown up and found a man looking fairly similar to the one he had seen along with Cheek.
Except the man's face was covered by a Grey Fog.
Dumbledore's brows furrowed as he remembered Arrodes showing a similarly concealed face the last time he had asked it about a student.
'Are the student and 'He' the same?'
'Or perhaps the student is 'His' blessed as he told us?'
'But a student wouldn't be capable of stopping the divination of Arrodes…'
'Or is it just Arrodes that is helping the student and the man by protecting 'Him' with the grey fog?'
The image went away as new words appeared in the mirror.
"Would you like me to ask you a question or punishment?"
Reminiscent of his recent task, Dumbledore cautiously chose, "Question."
"What is your favourite way to trick Minerva McGonagall into doing tasks she doesn't want to do?"
Dumbledore frowned but knowing he would never be sharing this memory with anyone else, confidently spoke, "I just dust myself in catnip before summoning her to the office-"
*Knock-*
Almost immediately there was a *knock* on the door which was interrupted to become a soft long pause.
Dumbledore looked at the door to his office and wiped his hand across his face.
He pushed the mirror back and it slipped back into its position behind the wall, hidden in its secret location as Dumbledore spoke calmly, "Come in."
The door opened slowly, creaking as it did, turning the moment even more awkward.
Behind it was Professor McGonagall who just stood there with her brows raised and her lips twitching, trying to act completely normal while also somehow completely failing at it.
"Yes, Minerva? How can I help you today?"
"*Ahem* *cough* *cough* Albus the Ministry of Magic has sent us a letter indicating that a student stole the Time Turner."
"A student?" Dumbledore asked confused.
'Don't Agents from the Unspeakables handle Time Turners? They are all at least mid-sequence Beyonders, how did a student steal from them?'
"Yes, and it seems the student left behind a note."
"A note? Was it the twins?"
McGonagall *sighed* and said, "I think not. I think it is best if you see it for yourself Albus." as she moved towards him and handed him a photograph.
"You got jebaited? And a frog?" Dumbledore asked confused prompting McGonagall to move her finger which was covering the rest of the message up.
Dumbledore fell silent as he read the rest of it.
"I suspect one of our students has convened with this evil god. I think using spirit vision throughout the dinner should suffice to check all the students and see if either one of them is corrupted." McGonagall said trying to offer up solutions to the problem.
As the gears in his head turned, Dumbledore asked McGonagall a key question, "Did they say what abilities this child had?"
"Yes, the letter that came in said he was good at turning invisible and stealing."
"Hmm…I see. Thank you, Minerva, you may check upon the students, I will join you a little later."
McGonagall nodded calmly and started to leave, but she stopped at the door and turned back to look at Dumbledore.
"Is it true Albus?"
"Wha- Oh. Yes, it is Minerva. I hope you don't judge me too harshly for it." Dumbledore said tilting his head low and looking at McGonagall from above his half-moon spectacles.
"Hmpf." McGonagall huffed and rushed out of the room, her face slightly flushed.
