I kept the mug down and looked down.
Just then, I felt a hand roughly pull me up.
It was Andrew. "What are you doing here?" I asked quietly.
"Kayden. What do you think you are doing?" He asked, completely ignoring my question.
Andrew's demeanor changed and he clenched his jaw.
"Just talking." He said, unfazed.
Andrew walked up to him and went really close to his face. He said something and I couldn't hear it. I believe Mia couldn't either. She got up and stood beside me.
"What's happening?" She asked.
I remained quiet at first and then said, "That's Andrew, my husband."
She nodded.
"It's not like you were willing to even marry her. It's not like you love her! You think I didn't know that?" Kayden slammed the table after standing up.
"Kayden. We will talk of this later. Here is not a good place." Andrew said. I could tell he was finding it hard to sound so calm.
Andrew looked at him for some time and turned around, pulling me out of the coffee shop.
"Scared? You're just like uncle. SCARED OF RUINING YOUR REPUTATION!" Kayden shouted, emphasizing every single word.
Andrew stopped with the handle of the door in one of his hand and the other holding mine.
"You better act appropriately. She is my wife!" He said, without looking back and we left.
"Andrew. Andrew, stop. Stop. Your grip's too tight." I said, trying to remove my hand from his hold.
I couldn't keep up with his long steps. We reached somewhere in the middle of the market, not many people surrounded us.
He suddenly stopped and looked at me. He straightened his posture and clenched his fists.
He took a deep breath and swallowed.
"You can't just barge in my conversations like that Andrew." I said.
He remained quiet and just kept looking at me. "Why did you pull me away? You shouldn't care who I'm with. Don't you remember our deal? I won't interfere with your personal life and you shouldn't as well."
Furthermore, he clenched his jaw.
"I hope you wouldn't repeat that again. And I'm not your actual wife. I'm not something you own. I'm not your belonging, which you can just take wherever you want." I walked off.
I sat on my bed, legs folded.
I was starting to regret every word I said to Andrew. I was too harsh on him. It wasn't right for Kayden to flirt like that, when he knows that I'm married to Andrew, even if our feelings aren't true.
My tongue clicked for I was annoyed with myself.
I should really think before speaking and not just go with my feelings.
Knock knock..
I heard a light knock on the door.
"Yes?" I said.
"It's Vera, my lady. May I come in?" She asked. "Sure, come in." I said.
She entered the room and closed the door. I didn't look at her. She came and stood near me.
"Take a seat, Vera." I said, patting on the bed. She hesitated but sat anyways.
"May I ask what happened my lady?" She asked. "Oh! Nothing at all." I smiled.
"My lady, I know something is troubling you. Please, allow me to help." She didn't give up.
"Heh, how did you know?" I asked, looking at her now. She removed her glasses and looked back at me, with the most understanding eyes, which themselves haven't been understood yet, which have lot of pain hidden, I saw.
"The normal glint in your eyes was gone and so I understood." She replied.
"Kayden said something inappropriate to me and Andrew interrupted. He pulled me away and I said some harsh things to him. I didn't think- I regret saying all that." My voice broke in between and I felt my eyes tearing up.
I couldn't even give a proper narration of this whole incident.
I looked up and the ceiling.
"My lady, things like these happen in such families. These are unavoidable. Most of the people who go through this, don't realize and don't correct their mistakes on time. I think you should talk to Master once. Apologizing makes everything right." She said, getting up.
I looked back at her and with a small smile, she left.
Talk to him?
How can I talk to him after this?
After a few minutes of thinking and contemplating, I decided to go have a chat with him.
I knocked on his door; it was the first time I came to his room.
"Come in." I heard his nonchalant voice.
I opened the door and when I shut it behind me, he looked at me. His eyes suddenly softened and he walked up to me.
"I'm sorry for what I did today. I shouldn't have interfered in your business. You don't even love me, of course you will not, you will love someone else. This is just a fake marriage. I don't know why I pulled away. I'm sorry." He said.
I could feel my throat tighten.
I couldn't ignore these signs he keeps giving me.
I lost control on my body and hugged him.
He took a deep breath and stiffened almost instantly. But a few seconds later, he relaxed and wrapped his hands around me.
"I shouldn't have been so harsh on you. I'm sorry as well." I said.
He gently pushed me away, and I saw in his eyes, a different kind of sadness.
We looked at each other and once again, I found myself lost in his eyes. He came closer and held my face in his hands.
He bought his face closer and closer till there was only an inch gap between our lips. I felt his heart beat rapidly.
I closed my eyes and felt his lips gently touch mine. It was just like our wedding kiss, but even more better, more emotional.
He moved back and turned around.
I smiled and said, "Good night, Andrew." He looked down and I caught a glimpse of his smiling face.
Vera was right, apologizing and talking does put everything back to its original place.
