Pax blushed as he moved past me and I couldn't help the smirk. However, it fell the moment I saw who was standing at the hostess stand, Molly Buchanan, an ex of mine and everyone else's.
Not a particularly nice one either. She'd been a bitch and slept her way through the football team whilst dating me. When I ended it she tried to claim she was pregnant with my kid.
That, of course, had caused an uproar. That's how I found out she was sleeping around. To be fair, it wasn't a surprise and I'd only been with her because she was a cheerleader.
"Well, I'll be!" she cooed, eyeing me. "Blake Ramirez! It's been a few years since I've seen you suga, you finally coming to see me?"
I was pissed that she completely ignored Pax and the fact we were standing there together.
"Reservation for Blake," I told her.
"Oh I know honey!" she flirted. "Shame I can't join you. I'm working right now, though, I get off at ten if you want to come back around. We could have fun like we used to."
"Fun wasn't what we had. Plus I've already got my date, can we go to our table now?"
She finally looked at Pax and scoffed.
"Date? … Yeah right Blake," she checked her list and motioned for us to follow her. "Here's your table for you and your 'date'. I'll take my break soon and come help you remember the fun we had."
I did my best to ignore her but I could see Pax was getting uncomfortable.
"Molly," I warned.
She smirked up at me as I glared down at her.
"Why the fuck would I want to have fun with you? I'll never be that stupid again. I'm on a date with my boyfriend and no I'm not fucking with you. I'm bi, always was, just kept it to myself in high school. Now go do your job, fuck off and leave us alone!"
I helped Pax into his seat, before taking mine as she stared between us. Pax's hand was on the table so I took it and gave it a little squeeze.
"You can't be serious?" she asked, incredulously.
"Very!" I growled.
Molly huffed and walked away.
"Someone you know?" Pax teased.
Though he looked like he was joking I could see a pang of worry in his eyes.
"A girl I was stupid enough to date in high school. Typical footballer and cheerleader type thing. It lasted a few weeks, maybe a month. When I ended it she tried to claim she was pregnant with my kid, that was until some of my friends started saying they'd slept with her too."
"Was she pregnant?" he asked, looking a little brighter.
"Yeah, but we did a paternity test, her parents and all of ours insisted. It was kind of like a roulette wheel, waiting to see who it stopped on. Turns out, it was none of us, some college guy she'd met at a party. We'd all made sure to use protection anyway."
Pax chuckled as he reached for the menu. The waiter came over and beamed at me.
"Blake! Long time no see man. Why have I not seen you in a while?" he asked.
"Hey Tony, just busy working and stuff. How are you doing?" I asked, taking his hand.
"I'm good, you know can't complain," he laughed before noticing Pax.
"Oh, this is my boyfriend, Pax, he's the assistant coach for our old high school team."
Tony, did a double-take.
"Wait, what?" he asked with a nervous chuckle. "Boyfriend? Since when were you gay? You fucked more girls than anyone in high school."
He tried to laugh and joke about it but I wasn't in the mood to joke around. I sighed as I felt a headache coming on.
"Actually, I'm bi Tony. I've always been bi but with the way people treated Eli I decided to keep that to myself. Now, I don't give a fuck what anyone says."
"Really?" he asked, looking hurt.
"Yeah, when I went to college I decided to be more open and found I finally liked who I was. I fucked all those girls so you all wouldn't think I liked guys too but now, I'm just living my life and if anyone has a problem then they can fuck off."
"Wait! That's not what I meant." he started. "I meant, did you really think you couldn't tell us? That we'd have a problem with you liking guys?"
"Yeah Tony, I heard the things you'd say about Eli when you thought I wasn't around. You guys only seemed ok with him if I was there," I reminded him.
Tony had the decency to look ashamed.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. We were idiots back then, and some of us still are but I'm really sorry man. I'm glad you are open with me now." he turned to Pax and held his hand out. "Hi, the name's Tony, former shortstop and this guy's dumbass friend."
Pax laughed and shook his hand. Tony knelt and smiled at Pax.
"You really know how to pick 'em Blake, he's a good-looking dude," he laughed. "You sure you want to be with this guy? I could tell you many stories of this idiot's antics in high school."
Pax laughed and I groaned.
"Shut up Tony, you gonna get us some drinks or what?"
"Yeah, yeah," he waved at me. "I'll leave you my number. We should grab coffee and I could give you all the details."
Tony, eventually, took our drink orders and to my dismay swapped numbers with Pax. I sat with my arms crossed and pouted. Pax laughed harder.
"Oh come on, don't pout. It's good that your friend wants to get to know me," he tried to breathe out.
"I don't think I like that idea, it may change your opinion about me."
Pax sobered up and reached his hand out. Reluctantly, I uncrossed my arms and took his hand.
"The only way it would change my opinion of you is if he tells me you killed or attacked someone," he reassured.
I smirked at him and put his hand against my lips.
"Well, I was known to fight but only because they deserved it."
"So, I have a question?"
We both turned to see Molly standing next to our table. Pax's hand was still against my mouth, so I gave it a quick kiss before lowering it.
"What is it Molly," I sighed in frustration.
"You said you were bi, right?" she asked and I nodded. "So that means you swing both ways, right?"
Both Pax and I sighed audibly but I nodded. I wondered where she was going with this.
"Since you have a … boyfriend," she said as if the last word was acid on her tongue. "Shall I be your girlfriend? I don't mind sharing you just as long as I get a taste."
She smiled at me as if she'd just offered the most tantalising thing in the world. We stared at her as if she'd grown two heads.
"Are you fucking kidding me!"
Tony rocked up with our drinks then. He put them down and then turned to Molly, who looked like she was about to be reprimanded.
"How many times have I told you not to leave the hostess stand when you aren't seating people," he chastised.
"I was seating …" she tried to say.
"Who the fuck could you be seating over here? Everyone here has already been seated for a while now. I've even been over here not three minutes ago!"
"I just wanted to ask Blake something," she cooed, giving me a wink.
"What did you want to ask him so urgently it made you leave your post?" he asked.
Molly seemed reluctant to say something which told me this wasn't the first time she'd accosted a customer.
"She wanted to know since Blake said he was bi, if he wanted her as a girlfriend since he already had a boyfriend. She claimed she was fine with sharing, as long as she got to have a taste," Pax offered when she remained silent.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Tony glared at her.
"Well … I just …" she stammered.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me?" he asked and she glared. "Being bi doesn't mean he wants both at the same time, it just means he likes both genders. Right now, he is with his boyfriend which means he's taken. Go back to your stand and don't bother Blake again or anyone else!"
Molly reluctantly went back and I laughed.
"Thanks, man," I gripped his arm.
"No worries man, she won't be working here much longer," he assured us.
I raised my eyebrow at him and he laughed before crouching next to us.
"You do know this is my place right?"
Our eyes went wide and our open mouths gave him his answer. Tony laughed.
"Yeah man, this is my place. It used to be my grandpa's place, and he left it to me as well as some money. So, I renovated it."
I managed to smile and nod whilst trying to remember what it was before and failing.
"Yeah, she joined us a few months ago. She was good with people at first but then she started this shit within a few weeks. She'll openly flirt with anyone she thinks has money, even if their partners are with them. I've had countless complaints. I've given her verbal and written warnings. This was the final straw."
"I'm really sorry for all this. Order whatever you want, it's on the house," he offered.
I was tempted to refuse his offer but then I remembered what he said to Pax so I decided to take full advantage of it. We ate until we were full to the brim.
When we left Molly slipped me her number, not realising Tony was watching, and I made a show of ripping the paper up in front of her to make her get the message. Her mouth hung open before she scowled at me.
I grabbed Pax's hand and we left her to seethe. Pax chuckled as we went. His laughter continued as I took him home.
"Well, I had a good night, despite the fact your ex tried to seduce you," Pax chuckled.
"Yeah, if I'd known she was there I would have taken you somewhere else … Oh well, at least she won't be there next time," I mused.
"Next time?"
"Yeah baby, do you think I'd only take you on one date?" I asked before giving him a kiss. "My Ma raised me right, she taught me to always treat my lover like they hung the moon."
He smiled before wrapping his arms around me. Pax's lips looked so inviting but I didn't want to rush anything or push him too soon.
"We're really dating?" he asked.
"Well, if you have to ask, I must not be doing this right," I smiled.
My lips pressed against his and he didn't hesitate to respond. We made out on his porch and I could feel my cock straining against my jeans.
"Pax, I know I've been an idiot and done some stupid things but I promise you. I want you, I've wanted you for a long time, not just for a night but for as long as you'll have me."
Pax bit his lip, as his hands unlocked from around my neck and pulled my shirt. He pulled me inside and all the way to his room. I couldn't help the chuckle as he helped me get rid of my clothes.
"I take it you're keeping me?"
"Well that all depends," he teased and my eyebrows furrowed.
"On?"
"On … how loud you can make me moan whilst you fuck me."
"Oh baby, I'll make you scream every damn night for as long as you let me."
"How's forever?" he teased.
"Forever sounds good."
