" Alana West here, I'm calling because I saw a flyer online. I heard you're hiring sir. I'm interested " . "Okay... right away sir " "thank you sir".
I sighed and collapsed on my bed. Yes. I'm Alana West, now in her early twenties, parents died in a fire accident now I have to cater for myself and younger sister who's just in highschool.
What do I know how to do? I can draw, act, paint, dance, sing ... I have a bachelor's degree in finance management and an associate's degree in architecture studies but here I am, calling a coffee shop manager that I'm available for hire.
What happened with Shawn you ask? I actually have the same question! Shawn left college after that and never contacted me. Sometimes I wonder if it was actually deeper than what it seems to be. I had sex with your brother then you leave school?...
Talking about sex, for some reason I've turned down every guy's proposal to me and I haven't gotten laid since that one day before Aiden's graduation. I've been celibate for six years now and I won't be out of celibacy anytime soon.

"Goodmorning" I greeted the cashier, "I'm here to see the manager " I added, "oh, may i know why? For safety reasons " "ofcourse... I am the new barista, I called the previous day already, Alana West " I said with a polite smile.
"Oh if that's the case then it's the door right there" "Thank you" I mustered the brightest smile I could obtain and flashed it at her then walked away to the office.
I soon came out, holding an apron in hand, I was shown the waiting room for the workers, I dropped my stuff in my designated locker and came out, wearing the apron.
"I guess this is my life now" I sat by the coffee machine beside the other barista, waiting for customers.

After multiple boring weeks of doing the same activities over and over, making different coffees, flashing a smile here and there to customers that seemed to be checking me out, giving out my number only to block them when I get home.
The door jingled, signaling someone had entered, I was aware that someone had entered but i didn't raise my head from the book I was reading. "Two Caffè macchiatos" they ordered. I nodded and folded the page I was reading, bookmarking it.
I quickly made two cups and placed them on a coaster, the server received it and placed it on their table "would you like biscuits with that? We have donuts too" I heard the server trying to cross sell. I finally looked at the people at the table, the one on the left looks so handsome, formal and proper, he looks like he was a perfect man with perfect hair, symmetrical face and very attractive features like a sexy human robot, programmed to be a man in suit with a straight emotionless face.
And he definitely is rich, he was wearing designer from head to toe and he had a distinct and fluent native American English accent. One could hear him so well, his voice sounded deep and lazy yet so audible. He must have so many women at bus beck and call.
He was speaking to the other one in front of him so I finally looked at the other one only for him to look at me at the same time.
Gulp* thump* thump* thump*
We stared at eachother for a few seconds that seemed like eternity "do I know you?" he broke the awkward silence in that moment.
"uhm no.. I.. you ... I don't know you so you must not know me then" "oh. Okay then, you look familiar though " he said and turned back to the handsome guy then they continued speaking.
"hey Trisha, I gotta go.. restroom " I rushed into the rest room and locked the door.
I can't believe this, Shawn!? Shawn! That was Shawn right there. Thank God he didn't recognise me. He looks so... So business manly now. He must have really hammered while I'm here working in coffee shops for a living.
How doesn't he even recognise me? Did I change so much? Why did I even lie? Was I that ashamed? I wonder what he would think if he knew it was me...
I wonder where Aiden is... Or was that Aiden? The other guy? No I doubt it.. that's not Aiden.. Aiden's not that handsome... Is that Shawn's boss? Or friend?
What am I even doing? Hiding from my own friend? I can try to maybe ask Shawn to help me get a job wherever he works... I hope he helps me... I remembered Shawn and I didn't part ways on a good note and we might have to have a long conversation if we actually wanted to talk ...
I left the restroom back into the cafe to see that they've already left "hey Trisha, where did those two guys go?" I desperately asked.
"huh? They left already... Why?" i ignored her and went outside the cafe to see a Tesla about to drive off.
It's them!
"Hey gimme a minute!"
I ran towards the car and as I was about to reach, the car drove off onto the main road, speeding away.
I watched bitterly as the car gained distance away from where I was.
Didn't they hear me?

"I told you to wait"
"for what?"
"that woman was calling out to us it could be an emergency "
"Well, next time then" the man driving said and looked at the side mirror, at the woman who was walking away and gave a silent sneer.
The one in the passenger seat noticed this but didn't react, he silently observed and also looked at the woman through the side mirror.

I got home with a lot on my mind. I brought out my phone and looked at Shawn's name in my contact list, he blocked me..
What if he recognised me and just acted like he didn't?.
I doubt that, if that what the case he wouldn't have spoken to me .. I guess..
I also looked at Aiden's contact, I blocked him. I should've listened to Shawn. After college I tried to link up with him again so we lived together for a while but those moments were the worst, he fucked anything in a skirt and he was an alcohol addict, he made me work and then manipulates me into giving him my own money.
I didn't let him touch me at all which made him mad one time and he tried to force his way with me that was when I realised that the relationship was toxic and unhealthy. I left his house and blocked him everywhere. We haven't seen since then.
I have to find a way to reach Shawn though... I hope they liked the coffee so they'll come back. I should've paid attention to making the coffee...
