Chapter 15 - Ch-1.8 Compliment

"Wow…" Said Natalia, wearing a surprised look on her face.

After my little concert for them, the children stopped crying and went back to playing with one another. I sat back to rest while we watched over the children. Mitch went to the break room for a cup of coffee.

Natalia approached me with a cup of water in hand and gave it to me, which I accepted because my throat required water after all that singing.

"Who would have thought you had that amazing talent hidden," Natalia said in amazement.

"It's a bit embarrassing," I said. Because it really is. I have sung in front of someone before but not in front of many people. Especially children.

"No! Don't be embarrassed with your talent!" She shouted, which surprised me a little. "Megan, you have an amazing angelic voice, it's beautiful" She added.

She grabbed my hand by surprise once again. It's just my singing, there is nothing special about it. But despite that mindset, her compliment still makes me a bit happy.

And unbeknownst to me, my face was turning crimson already, making Natalia chuckle a little at my reaction.

"I… I see, Thank you so much" I said, sheepishly.

We continued chatting, and after a while, I learned a few interesting things about her that might be useful to me. It's not a lot, but it's better than nothing.

Most of the time, James is out with his friends. I might have an opportunity to go to his house without him noticing with the help of Natalia. I could even go to his room! Interesting~

But my thoughts were interrupted when someone suddenly tugged my shirt. I turned my head to see who it was.

"Ateh Megan, can you sing more?" Said a little girl, shyly.

"Yeah! Can you sing to us more?" Said a little boy, enthusiastically.

"PLEASE~?" They all said in unison.

All the children were there, begging me to sing them more childish songs. Ugh, I might've shot my foot. I let out a soft sigh, and forced a fake smile at them "Oh~ 'kay" I playfully said "What should I sing then?"

"Monkey on the bed!" Said another little girl.

"I want Johny, Johny," Said another boy.

More and more of them asked me to sing their favorite song.

God what a bother, I thought to myself.

I let out a fake giggle. "Alright, please come one by one. I'll sing all of your favorite songs. So come here close to me," I enthusiastically said.

And so once again! I was forced to sing childish songs for these brats. We sat on the floor, formed a circle, then started performing for their entertainment.

Mitch is back from her short break and walks up to Natalia who's watching from the side.

"Wow, who would have known she has that kind of talent," Mitch said.

 "Yeah," Natalia simply responded.

"And the children seem to like her a lot. We might have gotten ourselves an impressive girl" Mitch mused.

Time has passed, it's already past noon, and it is time for the children to be picked up by their parents.

After all that singing I had to do, my throat was a bit dry. Thankfully, I can finally make it rest.

One by one, parents came in through the front door and went to the reception table to pick up their children. I couldn't be more grateful for these brats to get out of my sight.

"Bye-bye, Mama Natalia~. Bye bye Ate Megan~" said a girl, waving away

"Bye bye~," Natalia said, waving back

"Bye bye Jordan, come again tomorrow~," I said, waving back as well

 "Okay~"

And there goes the last one. It was me and Natalia. Mitch had already left to attend to an important matter involving the daycare. So that is why me and Natalia are left. Ain't that convenient.

Natalia started giggling, making me raise a brow at her in confusion "What's the matter, Miss Natalia?" I asked.

Natalia looked at me, amused. "Well, not bad for your first day," she said.

I let out a playful gasp "Miss Natalia! Were you expecting me to disappoint you!?" I said coily.

"No~ of course not, it just surprised me how well your first day went, I just thought that your first day was going to be difficult"

 "Thank you"

"And also, you already have the children's approval on just your first day. They love you so much"

"Really?"

"OF COURSE THEY DO!!" Natalia shouted "They all have their attention on you when you are singing. Made me a bit jealous" She muttered at the end, which I heard. Sorry I didn't mean to steal the heart of those kids from you, I didn't want them in the first place. "But anyway, they really like you, like you are their new big sister"

Natalia smiled at me, making me feel a small pinch again in my chest. What was that?

"Thank you, Miss Natalia," I said and smiled back.

After that little chat, we started cleaning and then closing the daycare. I observed if there is stuff that needs to be cleaned or need to be organized. Natalia on the other hand was on her computer, arranging some documents. She is wearing a serious look again and gave me the hibi jibis.

Natalia's phone suddenly lit up and made a sound, an indication that there was a message. The sound of her phone distracted her and made her look at what it was.

"Ah! Oh shoot, I have to go pick up James!" Natalia shouted.

Ugh, just mentioning that asshole makes me frown. "What seems to be the matter, Miss Natalia?" I asked. Hiding that I'm a bit pissed off.

"Oh, remember James, my son? I have to go and pick her up. But we haven't finished closing up yet. What am I going to do!?" Natalia said, panicked

"That's it? Don't worry Miss Natalia, I can take over here"

"N-No need to bother-" Natalia said, but I cut her off.

"No! I can do it for you, Miss Natalia, so go on to your son. I'll be fine here" I insisted.

Natalia hesitated for a minute before accepting my offer. Letting out a sigh, she bowed her head to me "Okay, thanks a lot Megan. I owe you one" Natalia said.

"No need for that Miss Natalia"

"Okay, I'll be going then! Bye!" She said while screwing away to the exit.

"Bye~" After the bell sound slowly faded, I was left all alone.

Sigh… Seriously, what a hectic day it is. Can I survive for a month? I really hope so. 'Big sister'… somehow, I don't dislike the sound of that.

That is enough dilly dally! I need to finish up so I can go home. And maybe call Gerald.
