"Not bad. I gained 3 levels just in this one fight," Vance said with satisfaction.

In his hand was a long metal pipe with a sharp tip. Five rotten corpses lay on the ground, each with a grotesque hole in its head.

In front of Vance was a floating golden screen.

Vance was looking at his stats with delight, his grin almost reaching the skies. But then he noticed something strange.

"When did I gain a Divinity?" Vance muttered under his breath. He wasn't quite familiar with how this God thing worked. Thankfully, there was someone who could answer all of his questions.

[Divinity is the same as Mana, except the difference between them is that Mana is produced in an environment, while Divinity can only be produced from people. It can either be strong faith, undying loyalty, or intense hate. The God race absorbs these emotions and converts them into Divine energy.]

"So someone must have these emotions directed toward me. I wonder who, though?"

A couple of meters away from Vance, a blonde girl was intensely staring at him. She was staring so hard that her eyeballs might pop out at any moment.

"So hot~" she was drooling while saying this.

I guess obsession is also considered.

"Anyway, what's the use of Divinity?"

[Well, anything?]

"Isn't that kind of vague? What do you mean by anything?"

[Just as I said. It can do anything, literally anything! Though, looking at your Divinity, the only thing you can do for now is manipulate elements.]

"Manipulate elements? Don't you need mana to cast that? My constitution doesn't allow me to store mana. Once I take mana into my body, my organs begin to break down. I thought you knew that?"

[Of course I do! I always thought you were strange because of that. I haven't seen anyone being hated by Mana that much.]

"Just get straight to the point."

[Oh, right. The way Mages cast their magic is by converting their Mana into nature energy and then turning it into an element like fire, water, and so on. Since it is their own Mana, they can manipulate it. But Gods are different; they use Divine Energy to create nature energy itself. It's not like the cheap imitation that Mana does—it pales in comparison.]

Vance nodded in understanding.

"I see. So I can cast magic now by using Divine Energy?"

[Like I said, it's not magic! It's nature itself! It's no use talking to you.]

The System's tone was tired. If it were a person, it would have been shaking its head and sighing while talking to Vance.

[But with your current Divine Energy, it will take a long time to create something, much less nature energy, so for now you can only manipulate them. And with your limit, you can only fire once, so unless you increase your Divinity, you have to use it wisely.]

"I understand," Vance nodded.

Vance was about to head to where the four were when suddenly a loud explosion took place in the direction they were heading.

"What was that?" he said while looking at a large cloud of smoke rising to the sky. He wasn't too surprised. He was in an apocalypse right now; explosions were bound to happen everywhere.

"Vance!" Daniel's voice came from behind Vance, along with the other three.

"Daniel, what's the matter? Were you attacked by zombies?"

"No...did you hear that explosion earlier?"

"Yes, what of it?"

"Ms. Evelyn told me that the explosion was where the Techno Building is!"

Vance widened his eyes a little bit before it returned to normal, not letting anyone notice it.

He nodded and, with a nonchalant face, said to Daniel, "Who's Ms. Evelyn?"

Daniel was surprised at Vance's response and replied flusteredly.

"Uh...ah...It's her..."

Daniel pointed at the lady with glasses.

Vance stared at the lady in her eyes for a while. It made everyone extremely uncomfortable.

After 10 seconds, he looked away and turned around, dashing in the direction of the rising smoke.

"...," everyone.

"Let's follow him quickly!"

...

How? How could this happen!? This didn't happen before—there's something wrong!

Vance was running at incredible speed. He noticed that even though he was making loud sounds, not a single zombie glanced at him.

There are no zombies? I see. The First Wave of the Apocalypse. But how? There should still be a week before that happens. Well, since there will be no trouble coming, I should go all out, right?

Second by second, Vance's speed was increasing.

"President, I hope you're safe..."

...

At the entrance of the Techno Company building.

Countless zombies kept pushing themselves against the glass door. They couldn't enter the building because of objects blocking the door on the other side.

The glass was already showing signs of breaking; if the zombies kept doing this, they would soon be able to enter and eat to their heart's content.

The President watched the zombies with an unbothered expression from the other side.

"President, it will only be a matter of time before the glass door gives way. You need to go to the basement and hide." A man in a black suit beside the President said worriedly.

The President was a tall, middle-aged man in a navy blue suit. His face, covered with a stylish white beard, along with his frowning expression, gave him an oppressive aura.

"You want me to abandon you guys and watch you sacrifice yourselves? Don't underestimate me!"

The man helplessly smiled. He knew better than anyone that once the President acted like this, no one could stop him.

"We have no choice then. All of the people have been evacuated to the basement. We can execute the plan anytime."

The President nodded and didn't say anything else. The other men in black suits didn't speak either. They were steeling themselves for the last moments they would have in this world.

Growl...Growl...

Crack! Crack!

The growls of zombies and the high-pitched cracking of glass filled the whole place until suddenly, it stopped.

The President and the others widened their eyes at what they were seeing. They couldn't believe it.

"The zombies vanished!?"
