The little novice monk was no match for Elder Chen Chengbi.
A force of soft strength had sent the monks from the Western Regions sprawling in all directions, though none were injured. The elder forcefully kicked open the locked door, took three steps in place of two, and with a stretch of his hand, flipped over the living Buddha's bedding and hoisted the old monk who was lying sideways on the wooden bed.
Carrying him, he headed outside.
The old monk swayed in the wind, his face showing utter despair.
Chen Chengbi reassured him, "With your level of attainment, you can manage without sleep."
The old monk cursed:
"If I neither eat, drink, nor sleep, I might as well be dead."
"Buddhist monks endure hardship and meditate without eating or drinking, but they are never deprived of sleep."
"You crazy old man, you, you are even more ruthless than those fellows."
