According to the news reports, the Los Angeles Police Department found the source of the fire, a lounge on the fourth floor.
There was a body burned to death, and based on survival witness and other information, the identity of the deceased has been confirmed as David Howard.
This David Howard was an African American who had a criminal record including first-degree assault, second-degree drug crimes, and other numerous offenses. The police suspect that he accidentally started the fire while using illegal drugs and was unable to stop it at the time.
The case is still in the preliminary investigation stage, and the follow-up investigation will continue.
