Damp, foul-smelling, and sweltering heat.
Intense discomfort jolted Xiu Nuo awake with a start.
Before his eyes lay a muddy rainforest, with several corpses lying nearby.
Dark skin, brown skin, short hair, simple attire—what kind of people were these?
Xiu Nuo struggled to sit upright, recalling what had happened.
As one of the Devil Child candidates from Netherworld Hall, he remembered that just the day before, the Hall Master's dim-witted son had gathered a group of Inner Sect disciples, claiming he had seized the Divine Soul of the leader of Purple Cloud Immortal Sect and his partner from the Netherworld, and that he had already refined it into a top-tier Dual Cultivation Puppet.
Amid the insincere praises of the crowd, the fool announced that he had sent out invitations, inviting peers from the Demon Sect to attend the Uncovered Conference at Netherworld Hall.
Upon hearing this news, Xiu Nuo cursed in his heart and fled Netherworld Hall in the middle of the night.
Xiu Nuo was puzzled—didn't the Hall Master's son ever consider why we are called the Demon Path?
If you could beat those righteous Immortal Sects, then they would be the Demon Path!
I didn't claw my way from being a menial worker in the Outer Sect to an Inner Sect Devil Child candidate just to risk my life for you fools!
As Xiu Nuo had predicted, the news came out in the morning, and Purple Cloud Immortal Sect, along with the six major Immortal Sects, arrived in the afternoon.
Before Xiu Nuo could even escape, he was forced to participate in the defense battle of Netherworld Hall and ultimately had to resort to the Heavenly Demon Disintegration technique in a desperate bid for survival.
And now, looking around, it seemed that heaven had not forsaken him!
Only...where was this?
Xiu Nuo immediately ran the Netherworld Decision, the Inner Sect mental method of Netherworld Hall. The fact he had woken up meant the body seizing was successful. To gain information, he needed to hurry and extract what he could from the fragmented Divine Soul of the unfortunate soul he had possessed before it completely dissipated.
However, as he executed the Netherworld Decision, Xiu Nuo found that his new body was positively knotted with impurities, its cultivation aptitude far worse than even the most inferior mortal cultivators!
Moreover, the sparse spiritual energy here was frightful. Even the Devil Devouring Cave, a place where the sect punished sinners, had spiritual energy many times richer than this! If he cultivated in the traditional way, Xiu Nuo felt it would take at least ten years just to reach the Qi Cultivation stage.
"Thank goodness I'm a Demon Cultivator," Xiu Nuo muttered, his gaze landing on the corpses.
The bodies were relatively fresh, with bloody holes in their heads and chests.
As he placed his hands on them, the Blood Magic chapter activated and the blood from the corpses began to converge towards Xiu Nuo's body.
Moments later, a mist of blood burst forth from Xiu Nuo's body, and then quickly retracted.
"Whew, at least after completing the Grand Circulation, I can perform introspection. Who said that Heavenly Demon Disintegration allows retaining one percent of the cultivation? With my previous cultivation at the early stage of Nascent Soul, after disintegration, I shouldn't be talking about Core Formation, but at the very least, Foundation Establishment should be within reach. Yet now, I'm barely at the level of a mortal martial artist who's been training for two and a half years? Where did it go wrong?"
"It's all up to you now." As Xiu Nuo murmured, he began introspection. Within his Sea of Consciousness, a black and red three-foot long sword was now full of cracks.
This was Xiu Nuo's Lifebound Magical Treasure, named Ghostly Vicious Energy.
It seemed now that his Lifebound Magical Treasure was in a worse state than himself.
With a slight intention from Xiu Nuo to summon the Ghostly Vicious Energy, a vague sword shadow appeared. However, the shadow of the sword trembled as if telling Xiu Nuo,
Boss, quit it, I'm falling apart.
Xiu Nuo turned his attention to the fresh corpses and with a wave of his hand, directed the sword shadow into one of the bodies. When it reemerged, it trembled less frequently.
"This Divine Soul isn't up to par..." Xiu Nuo muttered. "No hostility is one thing, but no resentful energy either? Do I need to nourish it with flesh and blood?"
As Xiu Nuo pondered these issues, voices approached from afar: "There's a survivor!"
Xiu Nuo blinked and then saw a man running up to him.
This man had black hair and an excited expression as he said, "Not much loss, not much loss. Kid, not bad at all, you actually fooled those bastards."
The man, seeing Xiu Nuo staring blankly at him, waved his hand in front of his eyes: "Hey, you gone stupid? Say something, will ya?"
"Where am I?" Xiu Nuo wanted to ascertain his location. Heavenly Demon Disintegration was a pain; the destination and target of the possession were completely random.
"Where...?" The man's frown deepened. "Are you really out of it? This is Panama, the Darien Gap in Panama. You okay? If you're fine, hurry up and follow the group, we're about to leave."
The unfamiliar names only added to Xiu Nuo's confusion, though it was possible that there were places in the vast state he didn't know of.
But he needed time to digest the information. Seeing that the man in front of him bore no 'malice' and exhibited no trace of cultivation, Xiu Nuo decided to follow the man to what he called the 'group'.
If the people from the six major Immortal Sects were to chase after him, mingling in the crowd would be a good cover.
But when Xiu Nuo saw the group, his first thought was that he had arrived in the vast mountains and had seized the body of an unlucky member of the Demon Race. But... at least from their appearance, they indeed looked like a group of humans.
Could the human species really have diversified to such an extent? Why does one of those dark fellows look as round as a pufferfish?
Nevertheless, Xiu Nuo didn't say much; he followed the team and started to move forward in the rainforest, and some fragmented information began merging with his memory.
This made Xiu Nuo realize that he might have arrived in a whole new world, the original owner of this body was named Chu Nan, who came from a mysterious eastern state.
According to the fragmented information, through some secret scriptures known as novels, people in that mysterious eastern state could perform Immortal Techniques, relive their lives, travel through various worlds, and even Xiu Nuo learned from memory fragments that the Demon Race of that state couldn't become spirits!
What kind of power must it be for an Immortal Sect to suppress the Demon Race so that they couldn't even cultivate?
This Chu Nan was heading to a country called the United States, which was extremely free, exploiting within and squeezing others without, with various species inside where the life of an animal can sometimes be more valuable than a human life, and so on.
After viewing these fragments, Xiu Nuo only had one thought.
This is crazy? This is simply the Demon Cultivation Holy Land!
The chaos brings some order; isn't this place the best spot for me to recover my strength? Not just to regain strength, but the Demon Path is thriving, and the heavy responsibility is on me!
Eventually, if I really start a sect and educate all living beings, the Merit from enlightening them seems enough to let me transform and ascend to become an immortal who lives as long as the heavens themselves.
Good running! If I had seized a body in that mysterious eastern state, I suppose... I would have perished before I could cultivate enough to use Heavenly Demon Disintegration again, wouldn't I?
Unexpectedly, in my own home, the prospect of eternal life seemed so distant, but after seizing a body here, it seems possible to achieve it.
It's just that the journey to this Demon Cultivation Holy Land is a bit rough, like this guy, who was just robbed by locals, who took their money with a Magical Treasure that even mortals could use.
This Chu Nan was not beaten to death; he died of fright, which made my Body Seizing extremely relaxed, but it also made the already fragmented Primordial Spirit memory even more incomplete.
But, it doesn't matter.
Although the Spiritual Energy of this world is incredibly sparse... I cultivate demons!
According to memory, the Dalien Canyon is located within Panama. Just traversing fifty-eight kilometers through this primitive jungle, I can reach the temporary camp in Panama, which counts as a considerable success.
This path is extremely dangerous for mortals, but now, having at least the body of a trained Martial Artist should be sufficient.
So, Xiu Nuo went along, organizing his memory fragments, and time passed quickly. As night fell, the team stopped to camp and rest temporarily in the rainforest.
Next to Xiu Nuo, a man from the same place as him was currently handing food to a black-haired woman.
But after the woman took the food, she looked disgusted.
If Xiu Nuo remembered correctly, when the woman slid down from a steep slope, that man helped her by holding up her bottom.
Although the woman had said thanks at that time, Xiu Nuo heard her quietly mutter, "Guo Nan is so disgusting, always thinking of taking advantage."
Looking at the man's sycophantic smile, could this be what the memories refer to as a 'simp'?
However, all this had nothing to do with Xiu Nuo. As night came, many people worn out from the day began to rest.
Xiu Nuo too started his own cultivation; the breathing of the sun and the moon was better than nothing. As for doing something big, Xiu Nuo hadn't thought about that yet.
Even though this place seemed chaotic, it had poor concealment. As a Demon Cultivator who crawled out of the bottom and a candidate for Devil Child with full experience in mortal tribulations, Xiu Nuo knew clearly that to survive, one must seek victory while laying low without enough power.
There were many arrogant peers in the Demon Sect, but Xiu Nuo usually stayed far away from such idiots, lest he get dragged into trouble when they get struck by lightning.
But soon, his cultivation was interrupted by cries for help.
Xiu Nuo opened his eyes and saw three night elves pinning the woman from before to the ground and brutally tearing her clothes off.
Many people woke up startled, but after seeing the scene, they all silently turned away.
The woman noticed Xiu Nuo still watching and screamed with effort, "Help me."
Xiu Nuo didn't respond but watched the scene with interest.
Because similar events, accompanied by pleas and cries for help in different languages, were taking place all over the camp shrouded in night!
This path of pilgrimage is truly extraordinary.
