"Hey, bro, have a cigarette."
Arriving at the back door security room, Lin Fan pulled out a cigarette and handed it to the guard.
"I can't smoke during work hours."
The young guard hurriedly declined.
"Then just take your time to smoke after work."
Lin Fan put the cigarette back into the pack and casually stuffed the whole pack into the guard's pocket.
"Big brother, is there something you need? I'm just a security guard; I don't know any of the doctors, and I can't help with anything that goes on in here."
The guard looked at the pack of Chinese-brand cigarettes and guessed that the other man needed a favor.
But his job, as it were, wasn't such that he could help anyone.
"You don't need to know the doctors. I just want to ask you, a week ago, on a certain night, the shift when the former boss called and said no one was allowed to leave, who was on duty at this post?"
Lin Fan pulled over a plastic stool and sat down on it.
