Zhou Qing scratched his head and smiled but said nothing.
"But, what were you so busy with last night that you stayed up so late? Yufei hasn't come over these past few days, has she?"
A single sentence from Zhou Weining made Zhou Qing's hair stand on end.
In haste, he began to explain, "Weining, you mustn't misunderstand me. I am utterly faithful and devoted to Yufei, without a hint of a second heart, and I would never do anything to wrong her! It's because a distant cousin of mine was bullied yesterday, and she found her way to my house late at night asking for help. That's what left me somewhat beside myself."
"Why are you so nervous?"
Zhou Weining's gaze still fixed on the files on his desk, he spoke without looking up, "Whether you are truly loyal to Yufei or not, do you think I am not clear on that?"
"Besides, you're a smart person—I trust you know what I mean."
His words, loaded with double meanings, left Zhou Qing somewhat puzzled.
