Chapter 22 - Chapter 7 Gateway, The Beginning of Legend

"Glowing?" Fang Hong was slightly stunned and asked in a low voice.

Dust filled the air behind the eight dark red eyes as they slowly moved, pairs of blade feet digging into the hard stone walls, and the massive creature rumbled, clawing its way up through the gap.

But no one dared to move recklessly until it stopped.

Fang Hong cautiously watched the Construct Behemoth and to his surprise found that the creature had no further movement, merely 'looking' at him as it sprawled on top of the opening. He didn't know if that counted as looking, but he had a feeling it did.

"It seems to be looking at you?" The female Wanderer of the Silver Shadow also noticed this and curiously asked, "What exactly is in your backpack?" Since she was side by side with Fang Hong, she couldn't see from Sicape's perspective.

Fang Heng swallowed and said without turning his head, "Miss Sicape, please help me take off my backpack." As he said this, he kept his eyes tightly on the Construct Behemoth, slowly lifting his hands, afraid that any sudden movement might trigger the eerie thing.

With his words, everyone's gaze focused on Miss Sicape.

Even the experienced Sicape couldn't help but sweat on her forehead, she took a deep breath to calm herself, cursed the "damn kid" under her breath and carefully walked over. While watching the massive object on the gap, noticing it didn't move, she reached for the strap of Fang Hong's backpack.

The behemoth suddenly let out a screech like a steam whistle and moved forward a section.

Kroid instinctively lifted his great sword and stepped forward.

This frightened everyone into screaming, seeking cover in diverse ways. "Everyone stop!" Miss Sicape shouted angrily and abruptly pulled the backpack from Fang Hong's back, throwing it onto the ground in front of her.

A low hum came from inside the Construct Behemoth, which indeed suddenly stopped, all its hydraulic transmission devices under its metallic body sinking down, with liquid oozing out.

Its gaze left Fang Hong for the first time and focused on the backpack.

Only then did Sicape let out a sigh of relief, her whole body seemingly drained. This simple action had caused her to break out in a cold sweat.

The backpack was indeed glowing, as if a flashlight was placed under it, and the dense fabric could not hide the faint glow. The bluish-green light made the intricately woven patterns of the canvass clearly visible.

Fang Hong was startled at the sight of the light, "What is this...?" Suddenly remembering something, an incredulous look spread across his face as he eagerly rushed to open his backpack.

Seeing this, everyone involuntarily tensed for him, Miss Sicape looked cautiously upward—fortunately, the Construct creature remained motionless like it was asleep, just watching Fang Hong's movements with its dark red eyes.

Fang Hong's hands were full of scabs, making his movements clumsy. Sicape shook her head, going up to help him, "Thanks, Miss Sicape." Fang Hong lifted the fabric cover of the backpack and the light instantly brightened. He paused for a moment then lifted the object with both hands.

The pale blue radiance suddenly brightened, as if Fang Hong had taken a small sun from the backpack, lighting his face snow-white, the dazzling brilliance even causing the surroundings to darken. At the center of the light was a crystal dagger, clear blue and deep, with magnificent silver ornaments sculpting its guard and handle, winged angels and chirping birds surrounding a radiant Goddess, the glow displayed in bright silver lines, showcasing the artisan's exquisite craft.

The dagger was star-shaped, and straight lines within the crystal blade formed the alchemy array of an Alchemy Formula. This was a highly advanced design concept, usually only used on war gear that required the use of vast amounts of Magic Power. However, the crystal was covered in grim and frightful scratches, one crack even breaking its structure from within.

Light radiated out from the crack irrationally, seeping into every corner it could reach, between the mud, the vegetation, and the crevices of the ancient slates.

Reflected in Fang Hong's eyes was the dazzling light, leaving him dumbfounded—wasn't this the dagger Miya had given him?

An odd thought suddenly arose in his heart, and although one voice told him it was just a coincidence, another part of him couldn't help but wildly speculate. "Ade?" Sicape called out to him.

But Fang Hong seemed not to hear.

At that moment, the Construct Behemoth suddenly made a deep moaning sound, clattering to its feet. Everyone was so scared that they simultaneously stepped back, only Sicape grasped Fang Hong, trying to drag him away, with Kroid standing on his other side.

Fang Hong was still dazed.

The Construct Behemoth, like a darkened long dragon, crawled along the wall, the hard surface crumbling like flour under its blade feet. For the first time, everyone could see its full figure—suffocatingly large, alarmingly fast, its huge head was in front of the young Alchemist in a blink, its long body spanned the entire wall—the tail still hidden beneath the opening, with no end in sight.

The behemoth stopped, with its four sets of eyes fixedly gazing down at the tiny youth beneath its eyelids, no more than ten feet between it and Fang Hong.

Fang Hong could almost smell the steam in the air.

But the temperature was dropping.

The woman of the Silver Shadow trembled with cold, barely audible, "Its core crystal is Ice Longstone, ancient alchemy could allow it to absorb heat and convert it into Magic Power...also, it's not just as big as you see..."
