The two walked leisurely through the city of ruins and broken walls, and apart from a few lucky survivors bustling about for food, they didn't see a single soldier from the Eight Great Families.
"Hey! You, come here!" Lu Hong grabbed a seemingly clever young scamp and asked, "What happened in Hope Sea City?"
"Do you have any food? Give me something to eat, and I'll tell you everything," the kid said stubbornly.

"Not with you." The kid corrected himself, "I'm making a deal with this young lady next to you."
Lu Hong was taken aback then burst out laughing, "Why do you think making a deal with her would work?"
"Because my mom said that beautiful women are kind-hearted," the kid blurted out without thinking, perhaps this was something a stepmother might say.
"I think he's not wrong," Lai Li seriously nodded, "I am indeed very kind-hearted."
