Even though the An Residence was bustling with activity, the departure of Lady Zhushan and the series of consequences she brought inevitably left the An Residence feeling much emptier.
Nowadays, the An Residence was divided into three areas: the outer courtyard, the inner courtyard, and the Family Head's residence.
The outer courtyard housed the protectors and stewards; the inner courtyard originally belonged to the An Family members, but now... as the An Family grew, many family members were assigned various duties.
These family members who received assignments moved out, settling near the An Residence, and then returned periodically to report to Miss An or cautiously expressed their "hope to take on more responsibilities."
The Family Head's residence was, of course, the forbidden area of the An Family, and also the most central area. The regular inhabitants here were Song Cheng, An Chenyu, Tong Jia, Ying, and Ling.
