He was already familiar with this cane-like fine blade and knew he needed to sharpen it first.

Ling felt uneasy and nervous, silently following him.

"From now on, we're on the same side" were not empty words.

Only when exchanging information, providing value, and starting to work for a common cause and interest, does it become substantive alliance.

If they cannot share joys and sorrows, then "being on the same side" is mere lip service.

Ling had come to discuss matters, or rather, to complete the ritual of "being in the same boat."
