The plane was slowly descending.
Snap, snap, someone gently patted Li Wei's arm. Li Wei jerked upright and opened his eyes instinctively, "I'm up, I'm up."
A sweet voice reached his ears, "I'm sorry, sir, terribly sorry to disturb your rest, but the plane is preparing to land, and for safety reasons, we need to ask you to straighten your seat back."
Li Wei stretched lazily, "No, don't worry. I'm awake now. Sorry, may I have a glass of water?"
"Of course."
Having slept all day yesterday, Li Wei had adjusted, but during his vacation, he still ensured he got plenty of sleep outside of basic training, as it was the simplest and most effective way to recover, akin to hibernation.
Thus, on the short flight from Kansas City to New York, which lasted just under three hours, Li Wei slept all the way.
