My name is Clara Windsor, and I am royalty. My family has ruled over Ashen for generations, and I am the heir of the Kingdom. As the heir of the Kingdom, I obviously already have a fiancée. Her name is Cela Grayson, and I love, love, love her. But I can't seem to express my feelings to her.
Cela is my personal bodyguard, so I get to spend every moment of the day with her, which makes me happy. But right now, I'm at dinner with my father.
"Clara, I have enrolled you into the magic academy. You will go for about three years," my father said.
I was shocked. I didn't want to go because that meant I couldn't be with Cela. I was about to object when my father continued, "They recently started to allow students without magic to attend if they had advanced swordsmanship skills. So, obviously, Cela is also going."
I nodded, asking if Cela was going as my bodyguard. My father shook his head. "There are many capable teachers at the school, so Cela is taking a break from being a bodyguard and is going as a student."
I nodded, resigned to the fact that I have to go.
I was surprised at how soon we left for the academy. I thought it would be about a month, but it was only about a week before we left. I looked out the window as the academy came into view. It was huge, not as big as the castle, but it was still big.
The carriage stopped at the entrance of the academy. As I was about to jump down from the carriage, Cela offered her hand, and I gratefully accepted. "Thank you, Cela."
As we moved forward, a teacher spotted me and called me over. "Your Highness, over here!"
As Clara and Cela walked over, I said, "Miss, may I remind you that school doesn't care for titles, so just call me Clara."
The teacher nodded her head and moved her hand forward. As I was about to shake it, Cela stepped in front of me and shook the teacher's hand. "Hello there, my name is Cela."
The teacher told us our room number. "Wait, don't I have a separate room?" I asked.
The teacher looked confused. "Well, most of the students that enter the school are engaged, so we put them in the same room unless you have special circumstances."
I didn't expect to share a room with Cela, so I was getting shy. As we walked into the dorm, we could see a living room leading to the kitchen. I left to go look for my room, and that's when I found out that there was only one bed.
"Cela, come here," I called. After a moment, Cela appeared and said, "What's the problem, Clara?"
Cela leaned into the room to see only one bed. "I checked all the other rooms, but there's only one bed. What do we do?"
I was getting embarrassed just talking about it. Cela looked at me and said, "What do you mean? We just share."
Cela said it so plainly that it made me blush bright red. "Wow, Clara, your face is red. Do you have a fever?" Cela placed her hand on my forehead. That was it for me. "I'm going to sleep on the couch."
As I tried to leave, Cela grabbed my wrist. "Hey, wait. We can share, so what's the problem?"
As I looked back, I looked into Cela's eyes. She looked so innocent. "Fine," I whispered.
I didn't understand how I ended up in the same bed as Cela, but I was. Cela was fast asleep, but there was a problem, and that problem was that Cela was hugging me in her sleep, and it was making it hard for me to fall asleep. But after an hour or so, I had fallen fast asleep.
