I shook my head in amazement. It took a really special man to be as clueless as King Heavenly. He'd parked in the fire lane directly in front of Crazy Code. He didn't look like he'd been home. He was disheveled and appeared to be wearing the same clothes from the night before.
"What do you want me to do?" Wyla asked.
I sighed. I could wait him out and call Jake to handle him. I'd given Jake the morning off, thinking I'd get at least a temporary break from King after the arrest. Silly me. Or I could man up and face him head on. At least I would know what he was thinking that way.
"Let me out but stay nearby."
"I wouldn't think of leaving as long as he is here."
"Thanks. You are a good friend."
I didn't have to go to King. As soon as Wyla's car stopped moving, King was headed my way. I opened the door to meet the storm head on. I dared him to hit me. It would be all the excuse I needed to destroy him.
