"You have to come with me now," Min said.
"I told you to leave me alone!"
Min showing up at the apartment minutes after I left had me ready to blow my top.
Min snapped. "Shut up and listen. Bea and the boys were in an accident. I'm here to drive you to the hospital."
The blood left my head, and I dropped. I would have hit the floor, but Alec caught me. He held me up.
Alec asked, "Are they alright?"
"No," Min said. "We have to go now."
"Let's go," Alec said.
"You don't have to go. I'm here to pick up Teela."
"I won't let her face this trauma without me."
Alec picked me up and cradled me in his arms. I clung to him. My brain temporarily shut down to everything but the fact my precious Bea was injured.
"How badly?" I whispered into one of the flowers on Alec's neck as he carried me to the elevator.
Alec relayed my question to Min.
"Bad. We have to hurry."
