The beam came at her—pushing her back inches by inches. Her feet left shallow grooves in the asphalt ground from where she used to be standing.
Crow stopped his attack and began to pant deeply—his arms visibly shaking from its weight. After the beam had lost its mass and finally dissipated, he inspected the damage on her armour.
Despite the beam being made of mana, it had the effect of inflicting a small degree of burns on her armour. Ada lowered her arms to the side and breathed a sigh of relief; she checked the condition of her armour and noticed several cracks in it.
She theorised that the mana still holds the concept of friction and is indeed tangible under some circumstances—although it's just a theory, the evidence of the multiple burn marks on her was enough to give it weight.
She took a glance back and saw that the numerous buildings lined up behind her were pierced through by the beam—creating a sort of long wide tunnel.
