Everette's teeth sunk into the juicy meat of the snake he killed. After devouring every bit of it, he waited for Eden to show that his stat increased.
He frowned, "Did it not increase?"
Eden, sensing her host's confusion, informed him of the reason.
{"First-stage meat is unlikely to increase your stats. Second and above stages are more likely to."}
Everette's eyes glinted with understanding before sighing.
"At my current level, I think I am probably likely to win against a mutated probably near my level."
He then looked around and scanned the faces of the many people there. Although their life changed due to the apocalypse, they were still smiling without a care in the world.
His attention shifted to his group. Jason, Liam and Leyla were engaging in small conversations now and then. Over the past few days, they've been with each other and grown closer.
His eyes then turned towards the couple - Jack and Amelia.
Jack had a black longbow attached to his back. Amelia worked very hard to create it with the help of her new ability.
Using her ability, she attached two of the spider's legs together. She also created the bowstring as well. Fortunately, she could control how sticky it was so it could not affect Jack's arrows.
The bow handle was wrapped in a white silk fabric. Amelia was able to shorten the legs a bit to where its overall size was about 6ft. A thick line of silk then attached together the claws of the two legs.
It was also pretty heavy; it was about 60kg-65kg.
'All he needs is a genetic nexus to make that thing into an imprint.'
Everette was a little bit excited to see what the weapon would be like when it became an Imprint. It was, after all, made purely out of mutated animal parts.
He then analysed the object in Amelia's hands. He gave her permission to use the fangs belonging to the snake to make herself a weapon.
Her previous knives became dull and dented after constant use of hard material. Currently, she is trying to attach the fang to some sort of handle.
In the corner of his right eye, he glimpsed at Ada, who was sitting right beside him.
'Her flail is kind of effective for a tier one.' He was impressed at her flail's durability.
He then raised his head to see that the sun disappeared. The clouds roamed the starry skies. His eyes softened as he watched the stars.
"The sky is looking beautiful tonight."
Ada, who heard his muttering, tilted her head up and gazed at the stars.
"It is... Just like you." She turned her head towards him and gave a mischievous smirk.
Everette groaned before laughing, "That's so cheesy, bro."
"Oh, come on! It was set up perfectly; how could I not take the opportunity to say that?"
Everette smiled at her excuse. 'These past days have been so stressful.'
He lay down on the stone flooring. It was both cold and rough. But today, it felt warm.
"I wonder if there is another area of survivors in our city," Everette murmured as he glimpsed at Ada lying beside him.
"Even though I'm sure there are..." She then turned her head to the side to face Everette, "I just want you to know that I'll always be by your side, Everette."
Everette's face was tinted red a bit before nodding and looking away. He formed a fist, brought it to his mouth, and coughed into it.
"T-thanks..."
An awkward silence grew between them. To try and lessen the silence, he turned back to her to ask he a question.
"Oh yeah, I've been meaning to ask this..."
"Yes?"
"Have you thought of a name for our faction yet?"
Ada stiffened before putting on a wry smile, "I-I'm getting there alright."
When Ada received her class, she immediately formed a faction but couldn't put in a name because she didn't have any. Until now, she hasn't been able to think of one that she liked.
Everette laughed, "You've always been bad at names."
Ada glared softly at him before making a mocking remark, "Says you. I remember you named your pet goldfish "Goldy" because you were so bad at names."
Everette's eyes twitch in irritation, "Oh really? How about that time you named your WHITE cat "White"?" He snickered.
The two then began to argue again about who's terrible at naming. Their commotion caused everyone to watch them.
"Looks like "Eve" pissed off "Adam" again." Everyone began laughing as comments similar to those were flung around.
At this moment, it seemed like nothing wrong was going to happen. That everything will be fine. But far beyond their Chapel, a large yellow dome could be seen. A constant buzzing could be heard resounding inside of it, almost like there were thousands of the same creatures inside it.
