Chapter 54 - Just Talking

The group, as well as the visitors, were now sat in the corner. After they finished dropping off the rest, they immediately made their way towards the visitors.

An awkward silence permeated through the air between them before being broken by Ada:

"Lynda... Right? May we know the names of your leaders?"

The first step of their plan is to gather information. Lynda nodded with a smile before revealing the names of their leaders, "Yes, of course! Their names are Crow and Raven."

Everette raised a brow for questioning them about the names, "Are those their real names? Or an alias?" Lynda paused and displayed a thoughtful expression before answering:

"W-We're actually not too sure. One day, they just showed up at a survivor outpost in Luton by themselves when it was under siege, you see. After saving us and driving away the enemy, they offered us to join them under their banner."

"May we know what they look like? Out of curiosity, of course." This time, it was Jack's turn to ask questions. Lynda's eyes then glittered like stars before describing their appearance in a fanatical behaviour.

"I would be glad to!"

Subsequently, after saying that, she began to list Crow's appearance: "Crow is an elderly person with a grandfatherly air around him!" She bumped her fist in the air before continuing.

"On his face, three long scars stretch from his forehead all the way down his face. I heard he acquired them from shielding Raven."

"He is also pretty tall! About... 6ft5...?" She gave a brief glance at her companions to see them nodding before making a hand gesture that can be interpreted as "Just about".

"And he also wears this cool-looking black cloak made out of feathers!"

"What about this guy called Raven, then?" Everette wanted to know more about the guy under the suspicion that he could be the guy they met at Trinity.

"Raven? He is Mr. Crow's right-hand man or, in other words, his Attendant."

"And what is this guy like?"

"Raven is..." She paused before taking a deep breath. Everette's eyes squinted before feeling like something bad was about to happen.

"THE COOLEST PERSON EVER!"

"Argh!"

Everette, as well as the others, covered their ears from the scream that seemed to be loud enough to not only rupture their eardrums but also the people near their location who weren't even part of the conversation.

She quickly covered her mouth before apologising while bowing vigorously. She got out of her bowing pose before continuing to describe Raven.

"Although he is a bit taciturn and harsh with his words, he means very well!"

"And what does he look like?"

"He is about 5ft11 and has neck-length black hair. He also wears a mask that covers the lower part of his face."

Everette's eyes widened, 'So it was him!' His body began to shake once again, 'He definitely knows I'm an Attendant!' He could remember the stare the guy gave him as he was leaving.

"W-What about their weapons? And how do they fight?"

Lynda raised a brow before questioning why he wanted to know about those things:

"Why do you wanna know? Is it really needed to convince you guys to join us?"

He stiffened, 'C-Crap, I messed up' He noticed the 3 scrutinising him and began to think about how to lower their suspicions of him.

"What my friend here is asking is if they are strong enough to protect these many people." Jack injected himself into the conversation and made up some random excuse to bail Everette out.

This excuse immediately caused their increasing suspicion to die down and deflate.

"Oh? Sorry, we misunderstood your intentions. And to answer your question, they're strong enough to hold out against a horde of mutated long enough for us to escape."

Her eyes shone with a sad expression before brightening, "So! Have you decided yet?"

Ada, Everette and Jack glanced at each other. Amelia wasn't with them because she wanted to find something for her genetic nexus. Patrick was away helping others level up.

"Give us a moment, will ya?" Ada asked the three before receiving a nod, "Sure. But please be quick; we're kinda worried that our lack of presence would cause some concerns to arise."

'So they have a time to meet up? I wonder how many they have out scouring the place.' Ada wondered with a curious expression but decided against voicing her question.

"So... What do you guys think?" Everette looked towards the two with a solemn look. Other than Raven, no one else in the other faction knew that an attendant was in this city.

Ada scratched the side of her head with an annoyed expression before turning towards Everette, "You told me that guy on the bird was Raven, right?"

Everette nodded, "Yeah... Potential Asset wasn't able to analyse him, and it said that he was an Attendant." On the way here using the bus, he explained the skill [Potential Asset] to them. Before, he didn't feel like there was a need to expose it, considering there wasn't any need to.

But now, in the face of a potential enemy that may have the strength possible to wipe them out, he wanted to get the best uses out of the small arsenal of tools he had in his possessions.

His eyes gave Ada a brief look, 'Now that I remember, she hasn't told us any other skills other than the faction and the arms...' He couldn't say much, considering that he also kept his skills secret, but he couldn't help but feel curious.

Ada nodded before crossing her arms and tilting her head to the side.

"That weapon is his was powerful... Do you think its transformation was a cause of a skill or some sort of feature?"

The image of the obsidian halberd transforming into a large red hot pick-hammer and the damage it caused to the beetle flashed into their minds.

"And the bird... What was up with that? Could it also be a function or a feature?"

Everette tucked his finger under his chin before falling into a deep thought, 'So many things we are still unaware of... It's getting scarier and more unpredictable each day.'

While Everette was pondering, Ada adored the look he had on his face, 'He's so cute when he is thinking...' Deep into her eyes, a swirling mass of possessiveness continued to grow and expand inside her...
