Chereads / The "King's" Attendant In The Apocalypse / Chapter 52 - Patrick's Epic Bus

Chapter 52 - Patrick's Epic Bus

Ada carried on walking forward towards the crowd of spectators. Her arms were dripping with blood and flesh from the beetle. The crowd stared at her with newfound respect and also fear.

She made her way over to Everette and looked down at him with a smirk, "Hey." Everette just yawned and sat up. He stared up at her before wrinkling his nose.

"You look like you had fun." He then pinched his nose, "At the cost of smelling pretty bad."

A vein seemed to pop out from her forehead as she heard his statement, "Do you get off from making fun of me?" In response to that, he shrugged.

"It keeps things interesting."

"I'll show you interesting!"

Ada reached over to him before grabbing several parts of his body and chucking him up into the air.

"What are you— AHH! WHAT THE HELL, ADA!?"

His arms wiggled around in mid-air before falling back down into her arms in a princess carry.

"Hey~."

Before Everette could say anything, Alice walked up to them. Ada couldn't help but give her the stink eye for a split second before changing to a more appropriate expression.

"What may we do for you, Alice?"

Alice caught the look Ada gave her but chose to ignore it. "I'm just curious about the relationship between you two and also why he called you their... King?"

Ada tilted her head before briefly glancing at Everette, who was still trying to free herself from her clutches. She smirked before hugging him and answering Alice's question:

"Oh~? So you wanna know what our relationship with one another is? Well...!"

Everette caught her, making a strange expression that could even be interpreted as her being aroused.

"I am his Master~."

Everette stiffened and finally freed himself from her grasp before falling to the ground. He quickly got up and pointed at her with a defiant and flustered look.

"I refuse to accept that!"

"Oh~? But you're the one who got down on one knee and proposed it to me~."

"T-That w-wasn't me!" Everette couldn't think of an excuse for her argument, which ticked him off. Ada just smiled before answering Alice's second question.

"And about the king part... That is because of a class I acquired called Royal Participant."

A flash of realisation appeared in Alice's eyes before she blurted out:

"W-Wait... Is your last name Ambrose?"

Ada tilted her head in response. She was confused about how Alice acquired information about her that she hadn't said.

"How did you know?"

Alice then explained how Eden appeared before them, explaining how Ada's class change was revealed to them. Ada gave Everette a look that would be interpreted as, "Why didn't you tell me?".

In response, Everette just whistled in a comical manner under her scrutinising. She just sighed as she turned back to Alice, who was on her knees.

"I greet you, Your Highness." Ada just gave a wry smile before patting her shoulder and pulling her up to her feet. "No need for that, Alice."

Ada says that, but inside, she felt the feeling of triumph against Alice. Her kneeling inflated her ego a little bit.

The sound of grinding could be heard reverberating from the beetle corpse, followed by a crowd of people with a variety of equipment. The sky was a deep orange and with a couple of clouds smudging it.

"Squad C! We need you to carry this!"

A man with a construction helmet stood on the corpse while yelling towards a group of men carrying a broken piece of the beetle's shell. One of them gave a thumbs-up before plopping the shell onto a pile made up of it.

Another group then carried it towards a separate group near the bus with a tool specifically used for welding.

They have spent all morning and afternoon deconstructing the beetle and welding its parts to the bus. Everette was standing quite far away from them, holding up a blue piece of paper with a drawing of the bus they arrived on.

He then turned to the side to see Jack and Patrick conversing with each other about the topic of welding the beetle parts to the bus.

"Is there a need for this?" Everette raised a brow. By now, they could have been home, but instead, they spent several hours on this project. Patrick and Jack glanced at each other before shifting their attention onto Everette.

Patrick was the first to answer, "Do you NOT want to see an armoured beetle bus?" He gave Everette a questioning look.

That question immediately shut down Everette as he even began to imagine it, "No.... I do..." He sighed in defeat.

'What man wouldn't want to see an armoured bus?'

After thinking that, Everette turned to the side and saw in the distance a four-armed figure clad in black, glossy armour.

'Seems like she's still training. To think she acquired another skill.'

Everette was feeling depressed about the fact he was the only one in the group besides Patrick, who hadn't absorbed a genetic nexus. But of course, he remembers how he has two imprints and immediately feels better.

"THIS IS EPIC!"

Patrick shouted as he stared at the bus faceted with its new accessories. At the front were the mandibles shortened to a length where it wouldn't make the front weigh to much.

On the sides, they were decorated with metal platings and several parts of the beetle shells. The welders seemed to have polished the shells because they were more glossy and shiny.

They also seemed to have fixed several of the broken windows and some of the ripped leather chairs inside. Some of them even had the great idea of making the insides look nicer so they fitted in some red carpets.

Patrick then gestured to the crowd so they could come on. After a while of them getting on, Patrick scratched the back of his head after lighting himself a cigarette.

Patrick puffed out a cloud before staring at the loaded bus. "We need to make another trip back here, it seems." He said before turning around to see an excess number of people standing near the entrance.

Ada nodded before calling for Everette.

Everette arrived by her side with a questioning look, "Did you need something?" Ada just smirked before giving a playful flirt:

"Yeah, You~."

In response to that, he shaped his hand into a blade before slamming the side of it onto her head. "Ow!" She rested her hands on her head and nursed it with a pout.

"I was just joking...!"

Everette just rolled his eyes at her complaint before asking her what she really needed, to which she answered with:

"You're going to escort the bus with me while Amelia and Jack stay here in case something happens."

Everette nodded in understanding, "Alright. I hope nothing bad happened back at the Chapel..."

He said in which Ada agreed with, "Yeah, me too..."
