Chapter 9 - Iris

Shortly after leaving the trade show in embarrassment and making sure that nobody was following him, Ye Fan angrily walked down a crowded and brightly lit street, while passersby chuckled at his wet pants.

If he wasn't currently in China right now and was in a place where he was much more influential, he'd absolutely teach everyone laughing at him a lesson they wouldn't dare forget.

Unfortunately he had to restrain himself for now.

After going to a park which was completely dark and isolated, Ye Fan took out a cigarette and lit it up.

Fwoosh.

Even though this was the first time Ye Fan had ever smoked in his entire life, it sure did take the edge off of him and made him more relaxed.

And now that he has thought about it closely, perhaps both Luna and Xie Roulin didn't want to show him any face today simply because they were both secretly using Ronald to their advantage while appearing on the outside that they're not, just like what the crowed he overheard from had speculated.

And it did make total sense after all, considering that both of them were merciless and achieved a great level of success in their respective fields within such a short period of time.

Still, he was extremely upset about this since he hadn't been publicly humiliated in so long, but he'll let bygones be bygones.

Those two will become his woman anyways, so it was almost as if the Kuangge family was paying him to be face slapped instead.

However, he won't ever forgive that scum Ronald Kuangge.

No, he was the reason why his woman stood up against him to begin with!

And he'll definitely repay this humiliation by ten folds.

As Ye Fan was scheming inside his head, a woman suddenly emerged out from the shadows and bowed at him.

"You're finally here, Iris." Ye Fan dropped his cigarette and stepped on it.

Iris, a beautiful western beauty with light brown hazel eyes and short dark brown hair. Her looks alone can cause even men with the highest standard to have a nosebleed upon gazing at her.

Don't be fooled with just her appearance though, as attractive as she may sound, she's also considered one of the strongest assassins from overseas and Ye Fan's right-hand woman that does all of Ye Fan's dirty work.

Ye Fan also trusted her a lot as well not only because she looked stunning, but also because she would always complete Ye Fan's tasks successfully without ever questioning his actions.

"Yes, Master. How may I be of service?" Iris's voice was cold and even had a tone of eeriness to it.

"Did you do what I had asked you to do yet?" Ye Fan got straight to the point.

"I have, take a look at this." Iris took out a list from her assassin uniform and handed it to Ye Fan.

Looking at the list, there were all various kinds of weapons and items which are rumored to have 'magical' properties within them, along with the locations where they could be obtained from.

There were a lot of powerful items on there that would make any normal person tremble at the thought of having such an item, but Ye Fan wasn't interested in any of the items at all.

When he reached to the bottom of the page however, there was an item he saw that stood out from the rest.

It didn't have any name attached to it, and the image simply looked like a normal steel sword that had random giberish engraved on the blade of the sword.

But for some reason, his gut feeling was telling him that he needed to obtain this sword.

And his gut feeling was never wrong about anything.

"This sword at the end, you wrote down here that it's located at a Pavilion somewhere in this city, but how come I've never heard of one being here?" Ye Fan pointed at the sword and asked.

Pavilions are places where martial artists usually gather to exchange techniques, treasures, and more, and they usually open up only a few times a year.

As such, the public would always talk about Pavilions and how cool they are, even though most know they can never get in.

So the fact that he's never even heard of a single rumor about a Pavilion being here during his research on Jinhai city made him pretty curious.

"It's because the owner of the Pavilion hid it extremely well from the public, and only martial artists and high-profile individuals residing in this city know about it." Iris took out another paper before she continued explaining, "As you can see on the front here, the Pavilion disguises itself as a teahouse for the extremely rich and wealthy, and they don't allow anyone in without an invitation."

"That makes sense... but how am I supposed to get in without an invitation then?" Ye Fan pondered.

"I managed to secretly obtain the list of attendees from them if you want to impersonate one and get in." Iris handed Ye Fan another list detailing the names of people expected to attend the Pavilion tomorrow.

"That's great Iris! I knew I could count on you!" Ye Fan laughed loudly and quickly scanned through the list of attendees.

And just like what Iris had told him, every name on the list appeared to have some sort of big background in this city.

Now he just needed to find someone that he could easily impersonate without facing too much repercussions.

While he was scanning however, a name he was VERY familiar with suddenly showed up.

'Ronald Kuangge - Young Master of the Kuangge Family.'

That lowlife was also attending the upcoming Pavilion!

"Iris! How sure are you that this asshole is also attending the Pavilion tomorrow?" Ye Fan couldn't help but angrily say.

"...I'm 100% certain that he'll attend, Master." Iris knew who the 'asshole' Ye Fan was talking about, and hesitated for a bit before answering.

"Good, if that's the case then I want you to do this at the pavilion tomorrow..."

And for the rest of the night, Ye Fan meticulously went over what he wanted Iris to do tomorrow...

Completely unaware that Iris had been staring at him with killing intent the entire time.

***

"Achoo! I bet Ye Fan is talking bad about me right now."

After Ronald had finish talking with the system, he started laying lazily on his bed while thinking about the next upcoming plot.

He remembers that in the novel, the original Ronald attended the Pavilion for one specific purpose.

His purpose was to obtain an inkstone that Luna really like called 'The Imperial Inkstone of Prosperity' and give it to her.

As a result of attending the Pavilion, he naturally meets Ye Fan later on, who managed to sneak in.

However, the original Ronald didn't know that Ye Fan was actually calculating him, and under his calculations, he managed to get Ronald to start making trouble in the Pavilion completely making Ronald fall right into his trap.

Then after Ronald started causing trouble in the Pavilion, Ye Fan swoops in looking like a hero while 'saving the day' and causes Ronald to get kicked out of the Pavilion.

This would also cause the owner of the Pavilion, who is also a heroine, to start admiring Ye Fan and slowly ends up becoming his woman.

How cliche.

Anyways, Ronald is almost absolute certain that the plot will go smoothly this time around, since Luna and Xie Roulin won't be attending the Pavilion.

After Ronald had concluded that nothing will eventually go wrong for him, he headed to his bed and slept peacefully, recharging his energy for tomorrow's plot.

'Yes, I'm sure nothing can go wrong tomorrow.'
