"Uh Luna, is everything alright? Is someone bullying you by any chance? Don't worry, I won't let those bastards get away with it!"
Ronald didn't believe it. There is no way that a heroine like Luna would fall in love with him all of a sudden, there has got to be a conspiracy behind it.
Luna didn't reply back immediately, and she kept hugging him as she wept profusely.
She was afraid that this was simply all just a dream still, and she would lose him once again the moment she let go of him.
Now why did she think that she was dreaming?
It's because...
She's a regressor.
That's right, after her death in her previous life, she ended up returning back to her youth today.
And while she didn't know how or why she regressed back after her death, it didn't matter to her.
All that matters is that Ronald is alive right now, and she was given a second chance to make things right this time.
However, she can't let Ronald know that she's a regressor just yet.
After all, there was too much factors currently at play here that forbids her from letting Ronald know at the moment, and more importantly, she didn't want to inadvertently ruin his life again.
When she first stepped into the trade show and saw Ronald just now, she couldn't hold herself back and rushed towards him to hug him, but she realized that her actions were too impulsive and she had to slowly take it one step at a time.
Thankfully, there's nothing that true power and influence couldn't solve in this world.
So she decided that after she stands on top of the world once again and has the ability to completely protect Ronald, she will offer the entire world to him and then tell him her secret.
With that in mind, Luna slowly calmed herself down and hesitantly let go of Ronald.
"No, no, everything's okay. I just missed you, that's all." Luna said as she stared at Ronald with infinite guilt and regret.
'Bullshit, you absolutely hated me more than anyone else in this world in the previous life.' Ronald couldn't help but silently curse in his heart after he heard her comment, but he didn't really know the reason why she acted like this to begin with.
"Oh okay... anyways, as I was saying earlier, I got you a gift today, check it out." Ronald took out a beautiful wrapped box from his pocket and opened it, "What do you think? I think it really suits you!"
Seeing the The Moonlight's Grace once again in this life, teardrops fell from Luna's eyes again and her hand couldn't help but tremble as she picked up the ring.
When Ronald had first given her this ring in her previous life, she absolutely felt repulsed by it because Ronald had gifted it to her.
After all, she hated the fact that Ronald kept chasing after her and even used his family's power to coerce her family into forcing her to be engaged with him.
So in retaliation, she threw away the ring right in front of his eyes, just like she did with everything she received from him, and berated him in front of the entire trade show.
But now, she felt truly blessed to be receiving this ring from him.
Then again, even if Ronald gave a stick to her, she still would've felt the same way.
"I absolutely love it, thank you, Ronald." Luna put on the ring and smiled brightly.
Everyone within a 50 meter radius of Luna and Ronald was momentarily stunned when they saw this scene.
Other than the fact that nobody had ever seen Luna smile before in their entire lives, they were shocked to see that Luna was actually being nice to Ronald.
Ronald's notorious reputation was no secret to the public after all, and it was actually wide known throughout the entirety of China that he was Luna's licking dog.
"Could it be possible that his years of persistence and sacrifices had finally won over her heart?"
"Haha no way dude, it's Luna we're talking about here. She's definitely not going to change just because of that."
"True... then how would you explain her current behaviors now?"
"Dunno, she's managed to bring her company this far though, so maybe she's just pretending to be nice so that she can siphon money from him even more."
"That makes sense, he's pretty stupid after all."
Many different theories were being whispered among the crowd, mainly painting Ronald in a bad light, and since Ronald had exceptional hearing granted from the system in his previous life, he naturally heard every one of them.
And he was pretty sure they were all right as well as it did fit Luna's personality quite a bit.
Of course, he didn't know why the plot had a slight variation to it all of a sudden, but since the plot was still on track, he was confident that he can salvage the situation and complete it.
But still, he wanted Luna to behave as her usual self so that there weren't any further hiccups.
"Luna, I'm your fiance, you can tell me the truth if you want. I won't get upset."
"I am telling you the truth though, really." Luna's heart couldn't help but shatter and she unconciously touched the side of Ronald's face.
She knew that she had already caused an unfathomable amount of damage to his heart at this point in time, and it pained her more than anything to see that her kindness was perceived by him as nothing more than a mere act.
But she swallowed her pain and continued, "But Ronald, please don't buy anything else for me from now on, okay? I don't want you to waste anymore of your monthly allowances on me."
"Got it." Ronald didn't take it to heart, mainly because he was going to have to keep buying things for her in the future plots anyways, and he simply nodded.
"Anyways Luna, there's some products I want to check out here in the trade show, so I'll go on ahead for a bit if that's alright with you." Even though Ronald knew that this was out of character for him to say and do, especially since his original persona wanted to be with Luna all the time, he wanted to leave her alone so that the protagonist Ye Fan can come back to talking with her.
There was no doubt in his mind that Luna told Ye Fan to go hide somewhere for a bit while she was pretending to like him after all.
"Of course. Have fun, Ronald."
"Yep, see you later." Ronald waved to Luna goodbye and then disappeared into the crowd.
'...'
'I don't know why, but I have feeling that this is going to be a long night.'
