Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Sweep Begins

Liam O'Connor stood in the dimly lit workshop within Sanctuary Haven, conversing with Jake Sullivan, who was busy tinkering with a small drone on the workbench. The hum of machinery and the glow of monitors filled the room as Jake made final adjustments to the device.

"This drone's going to be our eyes in the sky," Liam said, watching Jake's deft hands move. "We need to get a clear picture of the streets—Ridgeway Street, Highland Boulevard, and Eastwood Avenue. The more we know, the faster we can plan our sweep."

Jake nodded, tightening the last screw. "I've upgraded the drone's sensors to detect zombie movement and heat signatures. It'll give you real-time data on their positions and behavior. Just make sure to keep it high enough to avoid detection."

"Perfect. We need all the intel we can get before we move in," Liam replied.

Minutes later, Liam, Olivia, and Marcus found themselves on the rooftop of a building overlooking the streets of Valora. The city below was eerily quiet, with only the distant moans of the undead breaking the silence. Jake's drone hovered silently above them, transmitting a live feed to a small screen in Liam's hand.

"This is our playground," Olivia said, scanning the streets below. She gripped her katana, the blade gleaming in the fading light. "Let's see who can clear their street the fastest."

Marcus smirked, holding his twin daggers. "You're on, Olivia. I've got Highland Boulevard. Should be a piece of cake."

Olivia pointed her katana toward Eastwood Avenue. "I'll take Eastwood. Time to show you boys how it's done."

Liam chuckled, patting his shotgun. "That leaves me with Ridgeway Street. Let's make it interesting—whoever clears their street last has to clean the base's weapons room."

"Deal," Marcus said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

As they each chose their targets, Jake's voice came through their earpieces. "Drone's picking up clusters of zombies on all three streets. Stay sharp, and remember, you're not alone out there."

With a nod to each other, they split up and began their descent to the streets below. The competition was on.

As they moved, the drone followed from above, capturing every moment. Each of them felt the weight of the task ahead, but the competition kept their spirits high. This was just the beginning, and they knew that clearing the streets of Valora was crucial for the survival of the city's remaining inhabitants.

The time had come to show what they were made of. Ridgeway Street, Highland Boulevard, and Eastwood Avenue were about to be swept clean.
