The weekend was coming, and I was walking home from school with Josh. We always walked together. Pfft– of course we did!. Living on the same road as your best friend? What kind of idiot doesn't take that opportunity? Fools, am I right?
Well, back to the main subject.
So, as I was saying, we walked home while talking about anything. And I mean anything. We even talked about, get this, if cardboard was edible or not! We didn't really decide, though, so that's kinda sad. This wasn't one of my brightest moments.
Then it began to rain.
Annoying, right? Yeah, I thought so too.
The sky started rumbling! Booming, like a ticking time bomb! Thunder! We began to run. As fast as we could, back to our homes.
And then it happened.
I looked up. For a split second, I could see it. The lightning striking down on me.
I was terrified.
I reached out, trying to block it.
But it didn't work.
It struck me, straight through the hands.
My eyes flicked to my best friend, shakily calling the ambulance.
Sirens rang, deafening in the heat of the moment as an ambulance finally arrived. Took them long enough.
They tried everything they could, but it didn't work.
The burns were too severe, and the damage was done.
I felt an aching feeling in my chest, like never before.
It was so cold.
My body grew heavy. I couldn't move.
My eyes slowly closed.
And then, it all went to black.
I was dead.
